!!!Be very careful when ordering here!!!
My girlfriend and I stopped for a quick lunch before heading to the airport and ordered a lobster paella listed on the menu for about €50–60 per person. I even pointed directly at the paella on the menu to the first waiter, clearly showing that this was what we wanted. Instead, he wrote down a “national lobster” from a completely different page of the menu. The waiter, who spoke very poor English, later brought a live lobster to the table. Since this was our first time ever eating lobster, we thought this was simply part of the paella we had chosen.
When the dish arrived, it was served by another waiter and we ate, assuming it was correct. At checkout, the shock came: instead of €100 for two paellas, the bill showed over €360 – €300 for a “rare lobster” we never ordered, plus €60 for the rice. We had also ordered around €50 in drinks (just water and soft drinks like cola, no expensive wines). The original waiter who took our order never came back — instead, a different waiter handled the situation and admitted he could tell from our reaction that we didn’t know what we were actually getting.
We protested, and at first they reduced the bill from €410 to €320. Then they pressured us to create a “MemberClub” account, claiming that if we signed up, they would drop it further to €280. We agreed only because we were short on time before our flight, but this left us feeling tricked and manipulated. To make things worse, they tried to gaslight us by saying we had made a “great deal” going from €410 down to €280, when in reality we had been forced to pay €280 instead of the €160 meal (two paellas plus drinks) that we actually ordered.
The waiters normally do try their best to be friendly and attentive, and that makes it even more disappointing. This whole situation left a huge stain on the restaurant’s reputation in our eyes, which is a real shame because the staff themselves were kind. My advice: double-check the menu, make sure the waiter repeats back exactly what you ordered, and be extremely clear to avoid this kind...
Read moreGreat venue, great line up but drinks prices are a joke and your seating area in VIP is ridiculously small. We paid €500 for a small bottle of vodka and €350 for a small bottle of gin, which happened to be the two least expensive things on the drinks menu lol! Staff were ok, some lovely and some moody.
Still an amazing experience to see Tinie Tempa and sit in VIP at Ushaia. Don't bother with the free entry to Space after for Glitter Box as its $hit although it does have a nice roof terrace with booth seats which anyone can sit in, and a bar!
We paid €900 euros for 8 of us in VIP at Ushaia. My advice is have drinks and get pissed before you arrive and then use your minimum spend drinks to top you up through the night... food is lovely there, we had a big sushi platter but again it was pricey for what it was. Great night once you get over the annoyance of how expensive this place is...
If you are looking for a nice Beach Club that doesn't charge the earth then try Ocean Beach in San Antonio for something lively or Destinos in Talamanca for something chilled.
Next time I'll be giving Nilkki Beach and Blue Marlin a...
Read moreAfter arriving at our hotel, we were very hungry. We were pleased to find a highly rated dining experience on our hotel’s property. Food was great and was complimented by a beautiful view, despite being shorted on service. Our first waiter greeted us and reviewed all current specials, I ordered a special drink that was to be spicy and have reposado tequilla in it however once the drink was delivered and we ordered our food the wait staff never visited our table again and we watched as he avoided eye contact while we were greeted by another waiter. We indulged in the prawn tacos, beef sirloin tacos, and the croakers tinga tacos which were all really good but not meant to be under the shareable section of the menu. Really, there are only two normal sized tacos in each order. We ordered a glass of sangria however was brought a pitcher, so we had to sit down to drink the pitcher. Besides that and our new waiter being overworked, our food was extremely expensive for such small portions that made us not...
