Last night, my visit to King’s Grand Cafe turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly made us feel comfortable and ready to enjoy a special evening. The lighting was just right — cozy but elegant — and the soft background music complemented the gentle hum of happy conversations all around.
While the ambience set the tone, what truly elevated the night was the impeccable service we received from our server, Aide. Right from the beginning, Aide greeted us with a bright smile and a genuine warmth that made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table to wait on. She was attentive without being intrusive, striking that perfect balance that so many servers struggle to master.
We ordered the sirloin steak, which came highly recommended, and it absolutely lived up to the praise. Cooked to perfection, the steak was beautifully seared on the outside yet tender and juicy inside, exactly medium-rare as requested. Every bite was rich, flavourful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The accompanying sides were equally impressive — the vegetables were fresh and seasoned just right, and the creamy mashed potatoes were so smooth they practically disappeared on the tongue.
But even the best food can be let down by poor service — thankfully, that was far from the case here. Throughout our meal, Aide was consistently attentive, topping up our drinks at exactly the right moments and checking in just often enough to ensure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed or interrupted. She offered helpful suggestions when we asked about wine pairings and made sure our table was cleared smoothly between courses.
What struck me most was how genuine and caring Aide was. She made friendly conversation when appropriate but never overstepped. She anticipated what we might need before we even had to ask — a fresh set of cutlery here, an extra napkin there — it was the kind of thoughtful, detail-oriented service that makes a meal memorable for all the right reasons.
It’s rare to come across someone so naturally good at what they do. Aide’s passion for her work shone through in every interaction, and it was clear she took real pride in ensuring her guests left happy and satisfied. People like her are the heart and soul of great hospitality, and they deserve to be recognized and rewarded for the value they bring to a restaurant’s reputation.
If there is any justice, management at King’s Grand Cafe should seriously consider giving Aide a well-earned wage increase — not only because she deserves it for her hard work and dedication, but because staff like her are what keep customers coming back again and again.
All in all, if you’re considering dining at King’s Grand Cafe, do yourself a favour: order the sirloin steak, soak in the warm atmosphere, and hope you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Aide. She truly made our evening...
Read moreWent to get some diner for eight last Friday evening, it was very, very crowded, so we thought, this is going to take a while, but it wasn't. Staff was very friendly, food came very quick and was excellent 👌. Left a nice tip an definitely five stars worthy.
Being an F1 fan I went to watch the french GP with my son on Sunday, got sat down at the bar, had some trouble getting drinks but it was understandable, because the place was again very busy. Couldn't help keeping my eye on the girl at the bar, amazing how she handled the pressure, how she got her things together, it was a feast to watch her do her job with so much passion and professionalism. Left an even bigger tip especially for her, because this was worth six stars.
However, getting ready to travel home yesterday, we wanted to finish our holiday on a high and went for lunch again with eight people. Unfortunately it wasn't half as good an experience than our last two visits. The food was still great, no doubt about that. But service was very poor. A waitress was there to take our order quit soon. We didn't really had to wait long for the first dishes to arrive. But then it all went horribly wrong. The dishes that arrived were for only three of us. Being polite, the three of us waited to start eating, thinking the other dishes would follow soon. But they didn't. Having asked about the remaining dishes, the three of us started ours, because it would otherwise get cold. About 20 minutes later 2 other dishes arrived, and about 10 minutes after that another 2 dishes arrived. The waiter saw that there was still one missing and said he would go and ask about it. About another 10 minutes later the eight and final dish finally arrived. Something went horribly wrong with our order being sent to the kitchen. And I could understand it a little bit if the place was as crowded as the days before, but the place wasn't even half full. Meanwhile being waited by , at that point by 5 different waiters, doesn't help either when one doesn't know what the other one is doing. Having talked to multiple waiters in between the waiting for the dishes only the girl bringing the last dish spontaneously said she was sorry on behalf of the kitchen for the mishap. Unfortunately not the high end of our vacation we were hoping for and unfortunately it takes away a star in the review.
Conclusion, if you ever get the chance to visit King's grand café, just do it because the food is just great. I guess it just will take some luck with the service, it could be as great as the food is, but unfortunately it also could be less good.
Ps: didn't leave a tip the last time, it would have been different if they acknowledged their mistake sooner or offered our second drink to be on the house or...
Read moreDon’t waste your time here. I came here for a breakfast and it took a hour of my time, still hungry and annoyed and It was not busy. I ordered a coffee with ice and sweetener and a breakfast. The coffee came with a tiny sugar and took so long that I thought they had to pick the coffee beans, roast them and grind them. Nothing like that: the coffee tasted of tea water. Yes a ice cube makes it weaker but this is normally not a issue at all. I finished the ‘coffee’ and waited and waited and waited for the breakfast. It arrived by a plate almost taking my head off! The waiter didn’t think the space I had around me ( alone on a 4 person table) was sufficient so needed to shoot the plate 1 cm past my head. I was a bit spooked/suprised but didn’t get a SORRY nor a Perdona me or nada. What I got was a face that pictured more a ‘WHAT?!’. No question if I needed more drinks or nada. I thought that maybe I did something to her in a past life and was hungry so started eating by pouring the liquid butter over the toast. When I had my fist bike with beans on I found out they were cold. Not cooled down or not sufficiently heated but as ‘warm’ they get coming strait from tin in a place where it’s 30 degreed. After a long time trying to get attention finally someone came to see what I wanted. She asked me if she should take the plate away…. That’s maybe a ideas. So here I was sitting on a table without a drink or breakfast wondering what the next step should be. After a while I started to realise that there as NO next step. If there was anything they would be out slaughtering the pig for the bacon and they forgot to inform me it would take a while. After enough yoga moves with my arms and legs to get attention I asked for the bill for the coffee as I had enough. I got a bill for a breakfast and coffee…. I was really getting fed up now ( yes im patient I know) and needed to explain the girl who took my plate away that I never got it back and was not going to pay for it. She left again. Then an OTHER waitress came to ask what I needed. I just want to pay for my coffee and leave… and then finally I could leave! I was starving, confused how a business has people coming back and how they make money. People Had to wait for 10 minutes for anyone to even bring them a menu and then a other 20 for them to come back to take a order. Take your business to a nice private owner bar around the corner. Better quality, prices and they...
