Ai, the chef had an off-day we hope! The dishes we ordered were out and we could wait 20 minutes. That of course is no problem! we never mind waiting for freshly prepared food bring it on! A complimentary pâté of fishes was offered for the waiting. It came in two pans. We saw it immediately. Arroz de marisco with extremely overcooked clam,(3), Congolese (2) and shrimp (1). You know when you overcook fish? It smells off. But ok, maybe the rice was nice. We love paella, but this rice was half raw. Give it 5minutes more, add some stock and make it nice… not like this. Partner’s dish same failure. Broken spaghetti with some sausage sliced. Pâté, yes, arroz, no. It is quite exceptional to have a good menu with over 100 dishes on it. Give me 10 good . However, the waiter was fantastic and spoke pretty good English, was respectful to our time-taking and acknowledged it was difficult to understand the menu. The food itself was divine. I had the paella and it was absolutely perfect. My husband had the steak and commented it was the best he had ever eaten. Portions looked a little small but the taste was fantastic. For dessert, the cheesecake was incredibly filling and gloriously tasty with every bite, and my husband enjoyed his dessert too. In the sixties when we began to cook with pulses we made stodgy tasteless dishes. I ordered white beans with seafood with snuff, calimari and mussells, the waiter said there were only red beans instead of white but it came with no fish or seafood and something like the thickened water from a can of kidney beans, no flavour, no texture. I can't describe how horrible it was. As an afterthought there was some sliced raw onion and 3 picled chilis in a pretty dish. They really should have given me my money back and I may yet take the whole thing further. I challenge the Michelin guide...
