Bar Ambigú — Restaurant in Seville

Service without a smile. Our regular bar where we were heading turned out closed, so we stopped next door in Ambigú for a couple of beers and a snack. The place was almost empty despite it being lunchtime. Our beers were landed on the table without a word, same later with the tapas. We like unpretentious local bars and didn't expect designer food, but we did expect mohama to be cut better. We were eventually asked to move tables to accommodate a larger group, which seemed ridiculous given that all the other tables were unoccupied, and we were in the corner only occupying a small table for two. My parents loved this place on their last visit so I went along. The food is local, traditional and prices are tailored to locals (not tourists) so really great value. The waitress was really helpful ~ we explained in broken Spanish what I couldn’t eat and I managed to find three dishes that were naturally vegan friendly - spinach and chickpeas (a local favourite), asparagus on gazpacho and mushrooms with a garlic sauce and a little rice. What a great place. The oxtail was superb, melting in your mouth. The potatoes really yummy. My wife got the it Peruvian ceviche ... took a little longer but was beautiful. Had some cold beers to help with the heat outside for a really good price. Even the traditional olives and bread was good. The olives had a really nice flavor. Really reccomend this place.
