It's a decent hotel with a great location. We booked off Priceline and it was a good price - under €100 per night. Due to the central location, I'd say that's worth it. The check-in process was good, I appreciate that they allow a 12PM check-in as well as a 12PM check-out. That's very early for check-in, and allowed us to drop off our stuff right after we arrived.
I have to give it three stars due to the rooms. I'm not sure if it's because we booked off Priceline, but we got a pretty outdated room that looked like it was in an older section of the hotel. As we were walking to our room, the other rooms looked more modern (or at least the doors did). We only noticed a large leak from the ceiling right outside our room, which we told the front desk about. They did get it fixed that night but it was surprising to see. If we had not pointed it out someone could have slipped, and the puddle had gotten quite significant by the time we noticed. The room was also really small. We could barely open our suitcases on the floor and have enough space to comfortably move around. There was also an unpleasant smell, which wasn't overbearing but stayed throughout our visit. The bathroom was more updated and was comfortable.
We tried the breakfast (€12) which wasn't included in our room rate. For the price, I'd say it was worth it, but we didn't have it every morning. It opens at 7:30AM which was a bit late for us (7AM would have been preferred) as we prefer to eat breakfast before getting ready for the day.
Overall, if you're travelling on a budget I'd recommend this hotel, as the price and location are great. But if you have the budget for a nicer place, I'd book something else. Also there is no pool/other amenities that were...
Read moreHotel Cervantes is THE place to stay if you wish to calm down after many hours of travelling, by airplane, train or car. Its mix of tranquility and at the same time the feeling of being close to everything, is hard to beat. By cab from the airport, it takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic and will cost you around 25 €, unless it's late in the night, then you should be prepared to pay almost 10 € more. If you drive by car yourself, there is a good underground parking but be warned: the place isn't exactly easy to find by your own, unless you know the town very well. The hotel's situated very close to, but not actually in, the very city center of Seville. The reception is open 24 h. Free WiFi is standard, no matter choice of room. The place is worth its four stars, because of spacy rooms, good and friendly room cleaning and a nice inner garden, where you can enjoy a comfortable breakfast. They also have a good laundry service but according to the price list, it did seem a little expensive. The same thing goes for the minibar. But nobody thought good additional service is always free, right?
Want some action? Well, then take a 5 min walk to "Plaza del Duque", where there are cafes, bars, restaurants, the famous shopping center El Corte Inglés, busstops, taxis and nice, small, small parks with a nice shade. From there you can either walk (less than 10 min), hire a bike or take a cab to the city's...
Read moreThe Hotel Cervantes portrays itself as a 4-star hotel under the dubious Spanish rating system, but this hotel falls short. Its location is in the heart of the old city of Seville with quaint winding streets but with no particular views other than the plain buildings opposite. You can walk to the Cathedral and Alcazar or take in the numerous and varied shops. If you are less able to bodied, this could be an issue and would require a taxi. The hotel is historic with clean, beautiful marble flooring but set around an open central atrium it does require good navigational skills to access some of the rooms. There is no restaurant at this hotel and although the advertising literature says there are restaurants close by these are 200 to 300 metres away. The breakfasts are adequate but after 2 days (we were there for 4 nights) they ran out of milk for cereals. I was offered soya, lactose free or coffee specific milk. Yet, Carrefour Express supermarket was only 200 metres away. Very poor service quality. The staff as in many establishments, were very helpful or apologetic for management's short comings. Seville is a beautiful and fascinating city, but please choose carefully your hotel base to ensure you get the best...
