My husband and I came to Seville today. We stopped in to have a drink before we went to dinner. We are from the US and my husband speaks a decent amount of spanish (and has been getting better each day!). We walk in and go to order. My husband says, in Spanish, 1 water and the server says “that’s it?” In Spanish. So my husband then asks for a beer, in Spanish, and points to the one he’d like. He then asked to try the cider that I was thinking about ordering and the server was very mean. I’ve never been spoken to so rudely. She said “do you speak any Spanish?!” And my husband said “a little”, in Spanish, and she said “well I only speak a little English!!!” And was going on and on. It was humiliating. You choose from over 100 montaditos, which are mini bite-sized sandwiches, plus mini-burgers, mini-pizzas and more. I ordered 3 montaditos and a mini-burger costing €5.90 in total (see photo).
Almost everything is priced €1-2, so you order a range of items depending on your appetite. It’s not top quality produce, but it’s a great way experience lots of different flavours in an informal setting; also ideal for solo diners or those wishing to avoid the fast food chains. Beer is cheap, but there are lots of other options. It seems popular with locals and has promotions - when I visited, all montaditos were €1 on Wednesdays and Sundays....
Read moreHit and miss with this chain. I like the chain and I’ve been to a few and enjoyed it but this one was a bit manic. Order was rushed and a few bocadillos were half full if that. Chips were cold as they put them on the side but didn’t serve them until the bocadillos were done.
The most glaring thing on this occasion was the shouting of names over the tannoy. If they put a screen up with our numbers instead (like McDonald’s?) then you don’t need the extra noise and the confusion over names and pronunciation
It is cheap, and it fills a hole but needs more consistency...
