Just saw a performance tonight. Have to say the overall standard of flamenco was less than expected despite overwhelmingly positive reviews. Although all four artists were professional and technically excellent, the artistic expression/passion/intensity/variety was lacking. The venue puts on up to 4 shows per night so it felt more like a routine performed for the tourists. We had seen another performance on Seville Street that had more zest, passion and raw feeling (from both male/female singers, and five different but very interesting dancers). We appreciated that most of the performance was improvised and the inherent difficulty in doing that. However there is a lack of variety in the improvisation and the music, singing and dancing all sounded/felt the same in the entire hour. There was 3 changes of uniforms, and one would expect that each change would signify a change (even if subtle) in the pace or style of dance. However that did not happen. There were separate arrangements of singing, guitar and dancing; but they were just the same deconstructed components of the combined performance rather than showcasing individual talent. The performance might interest a first timer, however if you've seen a bit of good flamenco, this might be a long hour for you.

This only applies to the 9pm set we saw tonight. There may be other artists who have different styles. Special mention goes to the singer who I thought was the most emotional/closest to touching the audience; however the music chosen/played were not able to fully explore her style. There are lots of good quality street artists in Seville that receive very little for their art, and we should support them. Perhaps flamenco is most captivating when performed in a natural environment rather than an enclosed theatre. I appreciate the effort and hard work put in by these artists, however for the reasons mentioned, it did not touch me personally. Recommendation for the venue is to work on variety (include both well-known songs and elements of improvisation to keep it interesting). The sheer amount of tourists lead to sell-out shows. This may have provided a comfort zone where feelings/true...

Caught a flamenco show here (first flamenco show ever) and it was absolutely amazing. They sell out of tickets really fast so you definitely have to plan in advance a bit, but it's well worth it. The dancers during the night we went were incredible, it's hard to really explain the feeling but it's pretty much mesmerizing and no trip to Sevilla would be complete without seeing a flamenco show.

While the show is going on, they don't allow you to take pictures and record (so don't!), but they do let you snap pictures towards the end.

One recommendation to management would be to not allow people in if they show up late (or limit it to a 5-10min period after start time). An enormous tour group came in a good hour or more into the show, and they were distracting not only to the audience but also the performers (they were clearly irritated). Not only that, but the tour group had some folks that kept pulling out their camera, turning on flash, and recording, when they are specifically told NO RECORDING. During the middle of the show, the singer even called the people out but they kept doing it. The group should not have been allowed entry. It's disrespectful to both the performers and the audience who actually did have the courtesy to show up on time. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is due to the management not forseeing how much of a distraction letting people in so late would be. If you show up late (especially as a 40 person tour group), tough luck, you lost your money due to your own fault. #NoSympathyForObnoxiousTourGroups

Experiencing the traditional flamenco dance at Casa de la Memoria in Seville was nothing short of mesmerizing. The intimate setting of the venue provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of raw, unfiltered artistry. Each artist on stage was not only brilliant but exuded a palpable passion for their craft, which resonated deeply with the audience.

The dancers were a force of nature, their movements a beautiful blend of grace and intensity. Their expressions conveyed a profound connection to the cultural roots of flamenco, drawing everyone into the emotional journey of each performance. The precision and energy in their footwork were awe-inspiring, leaving the audience in rapt admiration.

The singing was equally captivating, with vocalists delivering powerful renditions that carried the soulful weight of flamenco's history and emotions. Their voices, filled with both melancholy and fervor, complemented the dance perfectly, creating a harmonious interplay between sound and movement.

The guitar solo was another highlight of the evening. The guitarist's skillful play showcased intricate rhythms and melodies, demonstrating the complexity and beauty of flamenco music. Each note was played with such dexterity and passion that it felt like the guitar was singing its own story.

Overall, Casa de la Memoria offered an authentic and unforgettable flamenco experience. The dedication and talent of the artists shone through every performance, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the heart and soul of...
