We visited the Devon Restaurant and Bar twice whilst visiting Lanzarote. My wife and I love eating a variety of cuisines, but we really fancied a Sunday roast for a change. We were able to book by WhatsApp which was definitely worthwhile as it does get busy. The staff are superb, very welcoming and able to cater for any special requests attentively which we noticed being done for particularly some of the older clientele. There is an extensive selection available for Sunday roast, with Turkey, Gammon, Lamb, Pork or Beef available, served with roast and mash potatos, a huge Yorkshire Pudding, braised cabbage, stuffing and gravy, with a selection of vegetables on the side and the truly epic cheesy leeks as well. You can double up on meat, and also get extra cheesy leeks or vegetables for a small additional fee. The meat is beautifully cooked, being moist and tender - between us we tried all of the meat selection and all was nicely cooked. For picky kids, a selection of reassuring beige is available which is a massive stress reducer. A selection of cocktails, wines, beers and soft drinks is available, I can definitely say that roast dinner and a Pina Colada is a great combination. For those who have a super hunger, a variety of puddings are available, including brownies, cheesecakes and crumbles, all of which are served with a choice of ice cream, cream or custard. On our second visit I starved myself for a couple of days beforehand and was therefore able to enjoy the Apple Crumble and hot custard which is as enjoyable in 31°C heat as it is in the depths of an English Winter. The view is lovely with the sea visible from inside and I would definitely recommend to others. There are a range of excellent dishes available on other nights such as Steak night Tuesdays and Fish and Chip Fridays. We will be back again. Thanks to all the team for such a lovely experience especially Graeme and Emily...
Read moreNormally the food is very nice. That evening the food took quite a long time to arrive. We had all ordered Fish & chips, but I think they had made a mistake with our order, because they arrived with goujons and chips, and we told them that wasn't our order, and It didn't appear to belong to any other table, so I think that was the reason for the delay. There was no visit to our table after that to apologise for the delay, or anything to say, "it'll be out shortly". When our orders arrived, the Fish was strategically placed over the chips, so hiding them from view. The chips on all our plates were a varying degree of burnt. I was surprised that they were even brought out to be served. I think they were the chips from the "Goujons order" that had been re-fried. Given the long wait, we were hungry, so decided to put Up and shut up, but more than half of the chips on one of our plates were rock-hard. The waiter knew that he was serving dishes that shouldn't be served. When We finished, the waiter came to clear the table and didn't even ask if everything was OK, so I told him the chips were very disappointing, and that most of the ones on one plate were inedible, which is why they were still there on the plate. There was no "Sorry", just an inadequate reply of "I'll let them know". Absolutely no apology or effort to ammend the poor quality food served. The waiter & waitress were friendly and polite, so either the waiter has no skills of handling complaints, or the company policy is not to accept criticism. The bill came, there was no reduction on at least one of the dishes, nothing. We normally leave 10% tip. We didn't leave a Penny. Shame really, because we had always been Happy with food and service before. I wish I'd taken a foto so you could all see I am not exaggerating. Probably won't return, as it isn't the only place to go. Azzure in Puerto Calero is far superior in good...
Read moreThis place is simply brilliant. Sat in a stunning setting, with the sea merely a few yards away, you can enjoy a drink and/or food and watch the world stroll by. The service is very friendly and also informative. The drinks are very good, but the food sets this place apart from everything else. Home cooked, delicious, mammoth portions, at a very good price. My family and I were in Lanzarote for 2 weeks, and Devon was so good, we visited 4 times, which is not like us as we prefer to try a different place most nights. The food just draws you back. The Sunday Roasts were exceptional. A selection of 5 meats, thick sliced, with home made Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes, vegetables and cheesy leaks to die for. Not to mention the fish and chips! A thick portion of cod, fried in a perfect coating of batter, with chips and a choice of mushy or garden peas, it has to be mushy peas surely though, right? The steak nights are great value, and also delicious, and the burgers are also amazing. I could keep going on and on, but the final coup de gras, was the cheesecake. A choice of different flavours, and the slices are massive. Just enough to have you rolling down the sea front back to your hotel/apartment/villa, feeling happy, comfortable, well watered and incredibly well fed. Bravo Devon, bravo! We will be back, hopefully see you soon! Stephen,...
