I've not left a Google review in ages, mainly because of the UK lockdowns and not being able to visit anywhere. But finally on a sunny holiday, we were lucky enough to be staying walking distance from this lovely place.
If you're British and you're food homesick, this is THE place to make you feel human again. If you're not British and you want a taste of UK, you can't go wrong here.
We had a family table, this wasn't a problem for them, they've a great selection of what I would call typical British pub food and it's literally perfect. The portions are just like they are at home, the prices translate to as they would to the northern end of England, or too cheap if you're from London, so although it's certainly not the cheapest dining experience on the island, it's still great value if you're used to British prices (bare in mind it'll cost them a lot more to import some of the food than it costs back home!).
I had the fish and chips, and the fish was what we'd call a whale (above a Northern large), but with perfect batter and very easy to eat, chips that you'd be happy to receive in a chippy and proper mushy peas. The rest of the table had different things from the menu and had nothing but compliments. So much so, we've booked for a family Sunday roast here and we can't wait!
Did I mention you can sit outside with a sea view so you still feel like you're on holiday? Well I have now.
Other things worthy of note, there's parking outside, but it's shared with 2 other restaurants and a Spar so spaces maybe limited, there is street parking also nearby. And it appears to family friendly, although if there's something on inside (darts match when we went), you might be best eating outside with kids.
There's no kids menu, but they do have a decent selection of food and have some of the menu available as half portion so these would be fine for kids, OAPs, or those with with...
Read moreBeing on the island many times now and visited different restaurants and places to eat but this was the first time I ordered orange juice that wasn't freshly squeezed and that was baffling I must say. Now, they may have it and I thought not to give me that but anytime I've ordered that drink, it's been always freshly squeezed but not here.
The platter meal was decent I must give them that but I wasn't quite happy with my BBQ ribs, not at all. I never ceased to finish my ribs, never but here, I didn't. And you'll notice, I didn't post any pictures of my food too.
I'm a high-ranking Google Local Guide. My job is to say it as it is without malice, so there you go. I'm sure this restaurant is doing their best, hopefully, but they need to do better.
Finally, the atmosphere was good on the day. It seems there's always live singing going on which makes the day easier to enjoy, for me, definitely not the meal I had was enjoyable and I know a very good bbq ribs meal to a decent one as I eat it a lot...
Read moreDecided to go and try the Friday night fish and chip night after having been a couple of times during the day for drinks with no issues. Until Friday night with family when the service was slow and when food arrived mine was incorrect and had totally forgotten my son’s meal in which he was upset and very hungry. When asked about the meal staff very rude and blaming us which it was very clearly on the order. Eventually my son got his food after nearly everyone else had finished. Went to pay and no apology. Said we wasn’t paying for my sons food because of the wait and where threatened with the police. Totally disgusting and would stay clear of the place and the food wasn’t that good either. Better eating underneath at the highlander where the food and...
