Restaurante La Bamba — Restaurant in Tías

After reading lots of good reviews we thought we would give it a try. After being seated we waiting about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken whilst tables who arrived after us were served before us, then when we got our drinks order in it took a further 25 before our dinner order was taken. When our starters arrived we very much enjoyed the Canarian potatoes with mojo sauce, it was delicious, but our first red flag was when the garlic bread came out with tomatoes on instead of cheese. Not too big a deal I took the tomato off and ate it. Then our mains came out. I had ordered a pepperoni pizza but the cheese was a centremetre thick and slightly congealed, I ended up taking most of it off. My partner ordered the carbonara and was slightly baffled at first by the taste, I tried some and it was very watery and salty. After eating some more he realised that part of the odd taste was a lot of undercooked white onion? We didn’t finish our meals that night and went to the bar to pay as soon as our plates were cleared. Quite disappointing as the reviews...

The service is so wonderful and you feel like your family is preparing and serving you food. However, the quality of the food is really not good, taste wise and for the stomach. Everything is quite greasy - I had the fish 'la bamba' style which is a battered fish with a mushroom sauce, fried plantain, rice and potato fries - which does not fit together and makes for an unhealthy meal. The desserts were all subpar - and the fresh cream was either not fresh or over beaten and...

Wow what to say we ordered prawns and mushrooms in garlic oil as a stater and prawns were not cleaned and absolutely no flavour prawns were extremely mushy (even I know from Gordon Ramsey that they were probably extremely frozen) we were told that they had nobody to clean the prawns, we the had paella which was ok but by then I was past caring, service was great. Ambience was great but food was crap, save your money there are several restaurants close by...
