Had high expectations for this place but unfortunately it was a let down from start to finish. We had arrived earlier on in the day to reserve table number 6 for 8pm, we got here at 7:55 and someone else was sat at the table, the waiter came over and said, “5 minutes”, it definitely wasn’t 5 minutes, we decided to go over to the bar and get a drink whilst we wait for our table, was basically ignored and nobody asked if we wanted a drink while we wait. The waiter finally came over to bring us to a different table at about 8:30, so 30 minutes after our reservation. Service overall wasn’t great and staff didn’t seem very friendly, for starters we ordered garlic prawns, garlic bread and chicken wings, prawns were nice and large, chicken wings looked like ones you’d get out of a frozen bag. For mains, we had lasagne, 2 x mixed meat meals and t bone steak, we was told t bone steak actually was ribeye and not t bone for some reason. I asked for the steaks in my mixed meat meal medium rare, they were basically raw and blue, very chewy and difficult to cut, the canarian potatoes weren’t great with it either. The ribeye was also supposed to be medium rare but was more blue/rare and not that was asked. The lasagne didn’t taste good and had an overly tomato taste, they also didn’t come out with any Parmesan, we had to ask for it. We did complain when we was asked how the meal was, not usually one to complain but we were paying for a more expensive meal and expectations were not met. The waitress knocked the price of the lasagne off the bill (12.70) we paid rest and obviously left no tip, usually do but refuse to pay any more for what we were given. Noticed after they had actually charged us 3.50 for water we never asked for, they brought it out to us without asking and they also charged us 4.40 for bread we didn’t ask for and you would think it was complimentary? They did apologise but not happy at all with food or service, especially for the price we paid. All restaurants we have been to give you a complimentary shot at the end of your meal, there was none of that either, not sure if it was because we complained. If you are thinking of going here, save your money and go...
Read moreThis is a great place to eat, and is something that all other restaurants should try to emulate. However there are two small caveats. The salt and the cappuccino. First they come out with a plate of 5 flavoured salts, which means you need to try them all. Which also means at the end of the meal you have experienced the Sahara in your mouth. Aqua, por favor! Secondly I hate these cappuccinos served with whippy cream instead of milk foam. It's not right and should be called something else as cappuccino it is certainly not, just ask any Italian, and honestly I expected more from Cangrejo Rojo. Oh and they charge for bread rolls and mojo sauce, in a slightly underhanded way. You don't know you are being charged and not aware until the end. Personally it's a small cost, but could leave the bitter taste. All the above are small criticisms compared to the meal as a whole. The meal and experience from start to finish was fantastic. The wait staff are friendly and willing to make jokes and laugh with the customer. The meal was fantastic. Wifey started with Prawn Carpoccio, while I went with the scallops. These were big starter portions and because I had so many scallops, of course I had to try all the flavoured salts on each. Just a small salty pinch on each, was tasty, but gave the equivalent of a sugar rush. The mains was also good. Wifey had the duck with the Blueberry sauce and I had the Reef and Beef (what we would call surf and turf). The couple in the next table laughed at the same revelation at what the Spanish call it. The beef was fantastic, the only complaint I have was the single Giant red Prawn was mostly shell, so the edible portion ratio was 10/90 of the Surf and Turf. The Wifey likes her Duck, but the Blueberry sauce overpowered it, and I agree. Sadly the duck was placed on top of the sauce, so the meat was covered even if you didn't like it. But both dishes were fantastic and so tasty. At the end you get a hand full of pick and mix. A nice little added extra, but if you have enough room I would be surprised. A nice evening, great meal, friendly staff, and the wifey and I highly...
Read moreWas recommended this restaurant (Red Crab). I would say overall, it was "OK" food was of a good standard toilets and restaurant were clean. However, I found a hair in my food, certainly was not mine as I don't have any hair! I had fillet steak with prawn (surf and turf), and my wife had just the fillet steak. I was under whelmed by mine as I received one single king prawn and charged €6.40 for one prawn, which i think is quite steep! The homemade chips were a bit on the sparce side. On reflection, I would have just the fillet the next time. I am also sure you are charged for a warm roll but only noticed this at the end once we received the bill. Atmosphere, we had a child and the took a very long time to provide a chair for him and set a place on the table, really felt like we were a problem. Once we had our menu, we felt very rushed. However, there was one waitress who was very good and made us feel more welcome until she was moved to a different table. The larger tables were certainly receiving a higher standard of service. Service: On the whole, it was good to mediocre. Staff looked stressed and moved very quickly from table to table, which does not help with the relaxation of a meal. There is a difference between being attentive than just ensuring food and drink are on the table. Would I come again; I think I would be hard pushed as there are, in my opinion, nicer restaurants with more welcoming staff, nicer ethos, and the equivalent food for the same or...
