Pizzeria Pulvinar — Restaurant in Tarragona

We had a bit of a mixed experience. We ordered 2 pizzas, a salad and a pasta Bolognese.

The pizzas were good, and the salad too. However, the Bolognese sauce from the pasta was very bad. It tasted artificial, as if it came from a cheap can from a supermarket. It didn’t seem to have carrot, celery or beef. It tasted just like ‘tomate frito’. It should not be called Bolognese if it doesn’t have those ingredients.

We told the waiter and he seemed insulted and became very defensive, claiming it was freshly homemade.

However, they still offered to take it back and give us another pizza instead, which we appreciated.

Really poor service. Arrived as it opened 8pm - didn’t get to order till 840, only one party in front of us. Meals arrived for the 4 of us an hour later - they brought the starters at the same time as the mains. I know mistakes are made, but we were only the second order of the night. No apology- even though it was really obvious they messed up. Eventually I challenged the waiter after paying the €120 bill and got an apology and a digestif. We were staying in Tarragona for a few days and found this place during a day trip, and found this place near the chapel. We were drawn in by its unique location and atmosphere, with a nice open patio as well as a nicely decorated interior. We ordered 2 pizzas, ravioli, carbonara, and lasagna and we were not disappointed. Everything was house made and delicious. Perfect for any hungry tourists or locals.
