Cafe Belvedere — Restaurant in Tazacorte

We travelled across the island from Los Cancajos to Tazacorte 3 times to eat at the Belvedere Cafe. We loved it here and enjoyed everything about it. We both felt comfortable and welcome here. The food is excellent. Everything we tried was tasty, well presented, cooked perfectly and just a little bit different. The various homemade lemonades were perfect for enjoying seated outside on a warm day. The staff were friendly and kind. Attentive but not intrusive. El sitio bonito y lleno de detalles de buen gusto en cuanto a decoración. Una carta original y concisa. Pero una vez en el sitio empieza todo a ser complicado: Comento que por temas de intolerancias o alergias necesito modificar uno o dos ingredientes del sandwich a lo que me comenta que es IMPOSIBLE, que el jefe no deja, que tiene que ser tal cual está en la carta. Me veo entonces sin opciones de desayuno, ya que no puedo comer huevo, ni gluten, ni aguacate, entre otras cosas. Finalmente, viendo que me voy a quedar sin consumir, accede a cambiarme 1 ingrediente del sandwich, pero para mi sorpresa, cuando llega a la mesa, tiene más cosas añadidas que no están especificadas en la carta, entre ellos un alérgeno como es la mostaza. Los precios, en general, desproporcionados, sobre todo los zumos de naranja a 5€. Cuando vamos a pagar, un grupo de varias personas, solicitamos pagar la cuenta por separado y primero nos dice que no se puede, a lo que vuelve a comentar que el jefe no deja.... pero acaba diciendo que como no hay mucha gente en ese momento, puede hacer la excepción. No entiendo que un sitio de comida hoy en día tenga esa rigidez para adaptar un plato de cara a alergias, intolerancias o simples preferencias, más en el caso que sólo era quitar ingredientes. Y que la excusa sea "el jefe no deja". Me inadecuado e incómodo.

You must go to this little place for breakfast! We walked up to this restaurant on two different days from our hotel - only regret is we didn’t find it the first morning we were there.
