Arena Resto&Bar — Restaurant in Torremolinos

Following other reviews we visited Arena. We wanted a good steak and the word was that Arena had the best. We were not disappointed. We had beautiful Argentinian Rib Eye steaks cooked just medium, served with authentic chimichurri salsa and French fried chips. It was perfect. The meat was tender and juicy and cut like butter. The steaks were about 300 g. Afterwards, the sweet tooth came a calling so we had simple crepes with sugar and lemon - perfect. Then coffee, and still feeling a need for sweet, we shared a copa with cream caramel, ice cream, nuts and dulche de leche. Oh yes, some Argentinian Malbec wine to help it all down. A very memorable meal for just under 100€. The service was great with lovely people looking after us. We visited here twice. The first visit was OK but second visit was absolutely dreadful. The standard did not appear to be the same. The burger which I asked for well done was raw on the inside. Given I said I was pregnant and the meat needed to be well cooked. They blamed this on the meat. Unsure as to why this would’ve been the meat and felt like a fob off excuse. I’ve had burgers in the past I have never seen a burger so raw on the inside but black on the outside. The oven was obviously set too high and not cooked correctly. Very disappointing. After informing them of this they were not keen to come back to the table or want to provide the bill. We had to then approach the main desk to pay. We went to this restaurant for a simple and quick dinner, but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Due to this we have been there three times already.

Communication with the wait-staff can be difficult in English, however, and the whole service seems very unorganized as one time we interacted with 5+ different people to accomplish 2 orders (main course & dessert) and paying for them (one only brought the bill, upon request - another actually let us pay, upon another request). They are mostly friendly, though, with one exception, who seems to be a bit grumpy in general.

Also, having to ask for the specific menus (main/food, drinks, desserts) that you don't know exist is not a great choice. Just give people all menus to begin with or ask if they want to see x...
