This review is based upon only two visits, and will hopefully improve with further meals. The first time that I ate here, it was one of the best meals that I have had in years. The sepia sucia a la brasa was perfect, as were the grilled vegetables, and everything else. My wife and I decided to go back a second night and were so disappointed. The verduras a la brasa were so undercooked that everything was still crunchy, including a nearly raw onion. I ate it, as I needed some vegetables, but it was not pleasant. The sepia sucia a la brasa was burnt on one side, while being slimy and partially raw on the other side. The raw oysters were served warm, and the gambas a la plancha were also partially raw. We ordered a bottle of cava, and they initially suggested that they had no bottles left, before chainging their mind and bring us a bottle that was already opened, and appeared to have been filled with other partially empty bottles combined in to one. I cannot be certain, but I know that there was never a cork popped. To sum it up, everything was undercooked and rushed Thankfully, we did not get sick from anything. My first meal was so good, that I really want to visit again, and am hopeful it will be better...
Read moreA great neighbourhood joint serving some amazing seafood. We arrived “early” (7:30pm is the easiest time to get a table as the locals eat really late) and got a table inside - it seats maybe 30 people so it’s a good idea to book.
We had oysters which were shucked pretty messily, but were incredibly fresh and tasted of the sea. Buffalo salad, which had a delicious zingy dressing. Tuna tataki, which was more notable for its grilled vegetables - some of the best zucchini I’ve ever had. The mackerel (caballa) was nice but had a lot of bones. Grilled prawns, which were soft and tasty. And then the standout patatas bravas, which were crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside - fried really well, but a tad oily.
Finally, we had tiramisu for dessert. What?! Tiramisu in Spain?? Yes we did and we didn’t regret it for a second. It was amazing tiramisu - soft but not soggy, with a small bite but didn’t taste of alcohol at all.
And it was really good value. We overordered, obviously, but all that came to €75.
Would absolutely...
Read moreAladroc could be the cosiest seafood place in Valencia. We had bravas, clotxinas, octopus, sepia, gambas, burrata salad with smoked sardines and tuna burger.. all food we had was really well made and tasty. Bravas sauce had finally good hot spicy effect that we cannot find any more everywhere in Spain. The kitchen style is a kind of slightly fusion and they use thai, wasabi and other spices and sauces with the seafood but in a good balance and not overwhelming structure. The prices are also really good as a seafood restaurant. The only negative point I may say is, they have a lack of good wine list. For such great food they need better wine list. The wines are cheap but there are not enough options to try and not really interesting. I really would to return to this place while bringing my own bottle :) Definetely...
