With a tail to snout philosophy you will find some delcious and unusual cuts of meat here that are cooked with care and skill. Part of my lunch menu ( The 17 Euro lunch menu is amazing value though I chose to pay a supplement for the special tuna dish) was a grilled pigs ear served on " smoked" potatoes that really hit the mark. One of the servers( lovely people who really understand the menu ) swears by the snout with smoked eel. My main was another unusual cut , a tuna" collar" from close to the gills that really looked and ate more like a cross between a bone marrow and grilled pork chop. This is an incredibly rich piece of fish and far different than the usual tuna " steaks" which are slapped on the grill for a few seconds and served red raw in the middle, well worth the extra supplement. On the whole I think my favourite were the fried anchovies simply served with lemon and salt. I am not a fan of the canned variety but try an anchovy fresh out of the water and you have something completely different.. yummy. I only managed half the desert after such heroric eating ( my first course was the croquette of the day) so this was a lot of food.... The wines are Valencian of the " bio" variety . I generally dislike bio wines but I was able to find a couple that drank well enough .The bobal and the white , I dont remember the varietal , I tried were ok. The grenach and the tempranillo were better. They are kind enough to let you try before you buy so I waved off the rose which I found particularly nasty in that vegetal bio sort of way. For what it's worth to the management , I always think it's a good idea to offer up some traditional wines for those of us who prefer them so you might consider it. I personally am not afraid of a little sulphite and there are so many really excellent Valencian wines out there that don't fit the bio profile that would go so well with the food you serve. This was a very enjoyable solo lunch sitting at the bar which is a lot of fun if you happen to be travelling alone.. Make a...

The experience was amazing. Waiter was really pleasant, fast and funny. Explained every meal, asked about allergies etc. Food is awesome and unforgettable, Grilled tuna steak was not melting but literally splitting in atoms in my mouth, octopus was delicious, “dirty” cuttlefish too, Riccardo’s tallinas was with sand, but it’s not their fault as this little guys eat sand, so it’s okay, some was clean tho. everything served fast. Sangria is also really delicious, and not sweet (just as i like). The only one complaint is that we got ugly “bar table” and it was really uncomfortable, but food made us forget about it. 5 stars definitely, and 3 for atmosphere just because of table. It’s loud there but you can speak with your normal loundess and hear each other really good, just normal loudness for small restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place. There was 132€ bill for 2L sangria and 2 sea meals for each of three of us. We were...

Very overrated. Being a local and coming back home I couldn't believe this place got so popular.

The good bits:

The space is beautiful and kept the traditional look. The service was polite and speaks English fluently.

Boquerones were delicious and parpatana de atún and russian salad were quite good.

Now the not so good.

Many of the dishes were disappointing.

Tellinas were very average.

The agua de valencia is the worst one I've ever tasted. For a restaurant on this price range and fame, serving an agua the Valencia that tastes like orange Fanta is a shame. If you're not going to bother to use the excellent Valencian oranges (on season this month!) why would you even put agua de valencia on the menu.

Canelones are displayed as 3 canelones per plate on their website and then they serve you 2!

Homemade natillas that do not taste like natillas...ok.

Overall I didn't massively dislike the place, but it is overrated for the...

The feeling of getting the worst table in the restaurant is harder for me to get over than my first love. The waiter at the bar does an amazing job of healing my weird heart. The food itself has highs and not-so-highs. The olives are invariably mushy and good, not great when they're firm. The sourdough may have a show winning pedigree, but it doesn't rise (intended) beyond mediocre ciabiatta. The tomatoes in the cured tuna salad needed time to grow up. It's not easy or cheap to ripen tomatoes in-house, but it's so worth it for a dish like this. The Russian salad doesn't get enough smoked sardine to matter, and the super chilled salad numbs any merit the salad seemed to have. If not for the amazing beef cheek, all may have been lost. It was delicious, and the wild mushrooms were a genuine delight. That, with good service and great beer on tap, will have us back for another swing.

We have been to this place more than one time and we definitely want to go again. I recommend to reserve a table in advance. The staff is one of a kind: very attentive, very kind, very enthusiastic. I loved it! The menue offers some typical local dishes but also special creations. I've never regarded a single choice. But one thing: if you do not take the mojama tuna you will miss something. Take it! The wine menue offers some really good local wines with lots of character. Prices are low for that kind of quality of the food. Indeed you can eat cheaper in the city but not with dishes on that excellent level. One of my favourite restaurants not even in Valencia but in Spain.
