Review 11th May 2024 After a couple of revisits to Deux-Amer I regret to have to go from five 🌟 to just 1 ⭐ my reasons being the following:
We ordered two club sandwiches which in the menu said (in both Spanish and English) that it is served with roasted turkey breast. However once served there are three slices of bread and a thin and folded cold cut slice of turkey. Both which (from what they appear) are purchased in the local Mercadona. The price is 10 €. When you order a club sandwich you would expect two good pieces of meat between the three layers of bread, not one cold cut thin slice of turkey at the bottom that you cannot even taste. Given that the sandwich basically comes without meat and mostly bread, it seems way overpriced and shouldn't cost more than 5 € for what you actually get. When explaining the misleading information in the menu to the staff, they first deny that what is inside is not roasted turkey breast. Finally, they said that "yes, but this is how we make it here, sorry". As a restaurant, you can't write in your menu that you serve roasted turkey breast and then serve something else (and at a completely different value) and then disregard a customer complaint. That is both misleading and unprofessional service.
Their Chai tea has gone from being rich in taste and well made with foaming milk to being served lukewarm, with no taste of Chai and with and an abnormal mix of milk and water which more resembles a regular English tea that you would therefore also pay less for.
Deux-Amer har gone from one of my favourite places to a place that cut corners in quality, and now a place I'm no longer returning to.
I used to eat a good breakfast there. If you want to go to Deux-Amer, stay clear of their club sandwhich and try one of their cakes instead. They are still delicious. Their breakfast should be too.
Original review At Doux-Amer's is where you'll get the second best chai latte in València. On top of that they serve some really tasty and healthy food. The place is small and cozy. There's a great buzz and vibe. You order and pay at...
Read moreStrolling the sun-baked backstreets of El Cabanyal, I spotted Doux-Amer. A pastel-painted promise of cold brew and brunch salvation. The online menu read like a hipster fever dream: açaí bowls, brioche croques drowning in truffled béchamel, righteous veggie tacos, specialty coffees that require a PhD in extraction. Valencia’s beach quarter isn’t exactly Disneyland for vegetarians, so my girlfriend and I dove in.
The drill is self-service chic: scan the QR, order at the counter, pray to whichever saint protects Wi-Fi that the kitchen gods are listening. We parked ourselves on the terrace at two sun-warped planks masquerading as chairs, no cushion in sight. These things make church pews feel like La-Z-Boys.
Chaos theory kicked in early. The açaí bowl? “Sorry, out of stock.” Substitute: a yoghurt bowl so basic it could’ve come with a LinkedIn profile. And then … nothing. Thirty, forty, sixty minutes tick by. Time slowed to the pace of a Hemingway sentence. The yoghurt finally arrived alone, like a shy kid at prom. Yoghurt, fruit, granola. Three ingredients that take me all of ninety seconds in a motel kitchenette. Here it required an epoch.
Just as despair set in, the croque madame with brie crash-landed and redeemed the entire operation. Sourdough toasted to a crackling edge, ham smoky and just salty enough, molten brie oozing into a truffle-flecked béchamel that whispered sweet nothings to my arteries. A bright, crunchy salad on the side kept the guilt police at bay. Worth every minute of the wait. If only those minutes hadn’t been served on medieval torture furniture.
Doux-Amer needs to pick a lane: either streamline the kitchen so brunch doesn’t feel like a season of True Detective or pad those hardwood thrones so your spine doesn’t file a complaint with HR. Because when the food lands, it sings. Until then, bring patience … and maybe your own cushion.
Great croque, but I left wondering which would crack first: the sourdough’s crust or...
Read moreThis cozy cafe left the best impressions. I met the owner who was so hospitable and explained everything we needed from the menu. I wanted to try so many dishes so I decided to write my review after. First day: we took Damour Toast, Burrata Toast, Healthy fruity crepe, and two wonderful smoothies: Young Forever and Beauty Boost. Second day: I had the Burrata Toast again it was so delicious and the quantity so generous!..and the Huevos Con Salmon which was really amazing. We took two amazing desserts: Super Banana and Rose Chérie. We also took two Flat Whites cafés!
I really recommend this clean and bright place which offers delicious food Note that I was reading the bad comments I saw there was a wait time but it's not that much note that the days we went there, it was a huge number of orders and believe me its worth it ! You feel healthy all day and full!
