La Mora — Restaurant in Valencia

This restaurant was walking distance from our apartment and so it was very convenient. There was a total of 5 of us so we called ahead to make a reservation for 7:30. The service was good and the food was delicious compared to the other restaurants we’ve been eating in Valencia.

Starters: Mushroom and truffle croquettes and Ham croquettes (4 pieces) we had asked if they can make an extra croquette and charge us for the extra - they were delicious. My only complaint is that one piece was still a little cold in the middle.

Club Sandwich - not your typical club sandwich at all. I wouldn’t even call it this but if you’re a fan of goat cheese, then this is your dish! There is no bread - just the cheese as the “buns.” The sweet tomato jam, bacon and goat cheese went very well together. It can be very filling.

Battered fresh squid with garlic mayonnaise - The tapa size came with 6 pieces. We liked it so much we ordered the entree size version of this.

Scrambled egg with mushrooms, chili and foie gras - this came on top over potato chips. Had it been on regular potato fries, this would’ve been much better.

Entree: Lean Pork Filet - my friend ordered this but I didn’t get a chance to try it. I’m guessing it was good because he finished it.

Red tuna Tataki with wasabi emulsion - Tuna was cooked right, presentation looked lovely however the wasabi foam wasn’t strong. I barely tasted the wasabi in that.

Grilled Calamari with green garlic and padron peppers and shrimps - we were so full by the time this dish came but it was good.

Lamentamos hacer esta reseña después de muchos años de clientes. Ayer noche no fuimos atendidos como clientes que no encuentran lo servido en condiciones y se nos trató despectivamente por el camarero encargado a las 19,30h.

Al finalizar, al irnos sin poder cena uno de los comensales por no atender una incidencia en el plato solicitado , le dije al camarero encargado que al menos tenía que haber mostrado disculpas por el trato recibido ya que al volver de la primera peticion de hacer mas hecha una hamburguesa, expresó dicho camarero que la hamburguesa así estaba ya hecha, pero seguía cruda y fria por dentro y que si nosotros no considerábamos hecha la hamburguesa, pasáramos a hablar con cocinero, cuestión que hizo mi mujer al desentenderse el camarero de forma maleducada.

Ella fue atendida por otro camarero en barra parandola y parecía que lo iban a solucionar dado que solo pedia una hamburguesa muy hecha por segunda vez como la de otro comensal que así salió y estaba cocinada muy hecha como se pidió.

Pues bien, para hacerla más la desmenuzaron como si fuera carne picada deshecha dentro del pan, lo que hizo que nos enfadáramos y ya no quisimos el ofrecernos otra hamburguesa nueva, pues habíamos acabado el resto de cenar. Mi mujer se quedó disgustada pues fue la que recomendó ir a cenar a la Mora, y prefirio cenar en casa lógicamente después de esto.

Conocemos a los propietarios originales desde que se inauguró La mora y sabemos que ahora La Sra. Flor familia de ellos gestiona el restaurante y por eso debemos advertirles que estas cosas hacen morir de éxito a los negocios. No comprender al cliente , falta de educación, no intentar a la primera resolver incidencias, etc. por ello dudo volver a un lugar donde nos trató el encargado con desprecio incluso comentando maleducadamente que mi mujer venia torcida de casa, cuando fue la que recomendó ir a cenar con ilusión. Es decir se respondió por el equipo sin ponerse en nuestro lugar haciéndonos ademas responsables a nosotros y lo único que se pidió era que la hamburguesa saliera MUY HECHA sin estar cruda por dentro...

We went to la Mora looking for traditional, tasteful Spanish tapas. What we found was severally overpriced, hot as if microwaved and wrong in terms of flavor choices. Apart from the food which was obviously not good to our taste, we felt quite uncomfortable with the two of us being the only people in the restaurant and the entire staff standing / glancing behind us. Most definitely felt like they were talking about us, understandable yet rude. However kind the (presumed) owner was it sadly did not make up for the price / quality ratio of the food. I hope the staff and owner will advance in their ability to cater and cook. So far my opinion take it...
