The museum is free always, and I found the staff super friendly. The building is spacious and has a lot of light. I came to the museum twice, first I walked in and saw the small temporary exhibits; only one was quite interesting, but I guess it depends on what is on. That is when I discovered that the permanent exhibit is by appointment only, available in 3 languages, English, Spanish, Valenciano. I came at a later day to attend this immersive permanent exhibit. It lasts 1 hr and 20 min (in my opinion, it can be condensed to 50-60 min). I had the strangest feelings about this experience. First of all it is very poorly advertised and attended, my group was only 3 people. There were more staff than visitors involved in the session. It could be made awesome and more attended with some upgrades. The exhibit includes walking from one room to another (many rooms!) guided by three guides in dresses representing three major eras of modernity, roughtly medieval, enlightenment, and last century. The guides didn't do much; why they had microphones I didn't know, they never spoke). All rooms have a lot left for interpretation. Some rooms were very cool (ex: room with wooden gears) but some left me wondering of their purpose. I guess I could describe the experience as a lite-version creative visual survey of human progress. It was hard at times to understand the main line of thinking. For example in one of the rooms we were invited by the guide to sit at a table while the guide just walked from painting to painting. Besides, some experiences were extremely long and not well explained, such as, but not limited to, the last room with screens showing destroyed cities listed by country. If I had my teen son with me he would say it was too slow and boring. It is so much space and time used to convey so little information. All in all, I am glad I went but I think this exhibit needs a major upgrade, because times are changing, which is the point of the exhibit itself. It needs a different more dynamic pace and more interactive stimulation, to attract the...
Read moreThe most strange “museo” in Valencia. It looks like they just want to build or rebuild the building but without any sense. The sense of culture, the sense of interesting exhibitions. Always when we come here we hope to see smth more than big walls! Yes it’s free to visit, you don’t have to pay- that’s great , but! People come to get to know some art, culture, something great that gives them a new knowledge.. but .. nothing .. a huge building without any navigation inside the auditoriums! Today they announce 3 exhibitions: but to find it there is a real quest! We saw that another couple was trying to find the “secret” exhibition downstairs . But they also couldn’t find it! Because there was no one signboard which told that there was an exhibition! Only the closed door. We have asked the attendant where is the exhibition? And she came with us to open the doors ! There was a small exhibition of the antique books. Without any visitors! Oh, my god! Does it important really for the authorities have the really good museums , exhibitions, galleries in Valencia?! What a shame! That this big beautiful city do not have...
