My wife brought me here for my birthday, as I had requested some excellent paella in a relaxed setting. La Taberna Casera well and truly delivered. Everything was perfect, from the food and drinks to the service and atmosphere.
We ordered cod croquettes and scallop gratin to start, followed by a seafood paella to share - all of which were incredible. We were lucky enough to sample their famous cava sangria, and we enjoyed some fantastic wines too.
The waiters could not have been more attentive and friendly throughout our meal. On the night we visited, they were hosting several larger groups (including a party of around 18-20), and we briefly wondered if this might detract from our own dining experience. We needn't have worried, as we received perfect service all night. Their hard work did not go unnoticed, and was greatly appreciated.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was bustling and friendly. Everywhere you looked, diners (most of them locals) were smiling, laughing, sharing plates of food and raising glasses - everything you could possibly wish for when enjoying a special meal.
We hadn't told the restaurant in advance that it was my birthday, but when my wife happened to mention it as we were paying our bill, our waiter kindly brought us two drinks on the house to wish me 'feliz cumpleaños!'
We would recommend La Taberna Casera to anyone, though we highly recommend booking to ensure your place at their table. Thank you to all of the staff for an exquisite birthday meal, and for showcasing the very best of Valencian food, drink,...
Read moreI first went to La Taberna Casera for the first time 4 years ago and every time I landed in Valencia, I rushed first to La Taberna Casera as it was my favourite place but this time, when I visited them on Friday, the staff just killed the place for me and I’m never stepping inside. The waiter insisted that I order their “very famous calamari,” without telling me the price. I trusted the waiter, but when the bill arrived, the ridiculously plastic tasting calamari was 23 euros? That was the worst calamari I ever had and this is my worst meal in Valencia in more than 5 years. You just lost a customer and along with me I’m telling all my family and friends never to spend another euro at your restaurant. There is no dearth of good restaurants in Valencia, customers return for the trust they place in you and the waiter made La Taberna Casera a disgusting place for me. My bill is 49 euros and the waiter didn’t even return the 1 euro. Well enjoy the 1 euro, as that’s my last to you ever, and hopefully the last before your restaurant shuts down with this kind of cheating attitude. The worst waiter award goes to the fellow who ruined my experience of the...
Read moreDisappointed to say the least. We were excited to try their paellas as the Trip Advisor reviews were high. But, we found the food and service a big let down! We were a party of 5, and had an “early” seating at 13:30…the restaurant was mostly empty. They seated us at a FOLDING table (see picture) near the bathrooms! Again, many tables were will open 1/2 thru our meal! As for the service, it felt rushed. We were barely done with our starters, then they began removing them to serve the paella. Guys, time it better next time! As for the food, we had the seafood paella and fideua. The paella lacked flavor and depth. Being in València, I expected more, but theirs was average compared to others we’ve had. Fiduea was more “wet” than we expected, but flavor was better…not spectacular. On the good side, the sangria was excellent. We also enjoyed the sardines & tomato. Both were the best we’ve had in Spain. In all, a big let down on the rice dishes. I’d try the other places in Valencia recommended by Google first.
By the way, on the table, there are 2 QR codes to scan: menu and Trip Advisor review! So, guys, here’s...
