Mientras Tanto is a little restaurant bar right by La Lonja, and we almost walked past it without noticing. I am so glad we didn’t because this ended up being one of the best meals of our trip in the region.
We needed somewhere open in the early afternoon before catching a train, and in Spain that can be tricky since most restaurants open late. Mientras Tanto really saved the day by being open earlier, and the moment we stepped in we could see why it has such great reviews.
The shop inside is tiny, with only two or three bar seats against the wall. Most of the seating is outside with small tables. The three of us sat comfortably, but just keep an eye on your belongings since it is in a tourist-heavy spot.
The tall guy working there was exceptionally friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. The three of us shared a jug of Agua de València, which was strong, refreshing, and exactly what we needed. They offer six types of pinchos and we tried four. The one with salsa de tomate topped with anchovies was my absolute favourite. They also seem to specialise in tortilla, and we tried the one with alioli and cheese. Both were incredibly delicious.
The bill came to €58.60 for three people and we left full, happy, and impressed. Delicious food, friendly service, and a very central location. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in Valencia...
Read moreA lovely place! And the kitchen is always open - something rare in Valencia, where you can easily starve between 3pm and 8pm. The food is great - I loved the focaccia with cabro, aguacate and tomatoes, prices are normal, the people very nice and helpful, the atmosphere quite relaxed. The iced coffee was also good. The only thing I have been missing in this hot summer day was something to drink made with real fruits - a freshly squeezed orange juice at least. If they were serving that, and why not mojito with fresh lime and mint, and piña colada with fresh pineapple, that would be my go to place for breakfast/lunch every day! And maybe Sandia for dessert. Still a great place and I will recommend to friends who are not that dependent on fresh fruits and don’t hate drinks made with water with gas as I do 😅 And will be back for the lovely people and amazing food, which is always there when...
Read moreWe stopped at this place while walking through the old town. It is located next to the beautiful Central Market of Valencia and the Silk Museum, in the shadow of the ancient walls. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal. We had several very tasty tapas while sipping well-prepared cocktails. The guys at the place are really kind and willing to explain everything since we don't know every single word. Really a...
