After lunch we really wanted crema catalana, the Spanish dessert similar to crème brûlée. Debates will rage on as to which is better but I love them both. So s quick Google search of who had the crema catalana and we were off to El Rall. It’s just a few minutes from either the cathedral or the central market. At first they wanted to only seat us if we were having lunch but that was easily resolved. And I’m glad. This was maybe the best crema catalana I have ever eaten. Good coffee to go along with it and friendly waiters. Jan 17 update: we went back today with friends who were in town and did the full lunch. Excellent paella, especially the Valenciana which had lots of socorrat which we enjoy. And again, great service from Matej ! A must visit for crema catalana in Valencia. And their paella didn’t look bad either!

"If you visit Valencia, do not waste your time, appertite and money at this place." I have been in Valencia for a couple of days now, and had a lot of great meals. Usually we choose restaurants after earlier reviews and recommendations. This time I let my family choose, and they chose this restaurant bwcause the location was good... I will try to be as balanced as possible when i write this. I ordered a lasagna. This was a shame to all italians on our planet. It was dunked in olive oil - i had to turn the plate upside down to get rid of it (picture). It was tasteless and greasy and frankly the worse lasagne i ever had. My siblings ate conneloni. It was also greasy, and they described it as "ok". My dads burger was "beter than McD.." If you visit Valencia, do not waste your time, appertite and money at this place.

It's strange to see such polarized reviews. I didn't have any high expectations, we ended up in this reastaurant by chance as we were hungry and the place we came to have lunch in nearby was closed. We were pleasantly surprised by the food - it was the best seafood paella I've eaten in Valencia and the Sangria was great, too - proper wine, a lot of fruits and water without gas - it was truely perfect. The service was not great, but wasn't that terrible as depicted - it was ok. They spoke English and we didn't have any issues paying by card. They added 5 euro for 2 beers that we haven't ordered to our bill, but when we pointed this out, they returned those 5 euros to us. I'd go again for the food and Sangria though - they were worth it :)

I visited this place four years ago and wrote a review on FB. I recently had someone share a similar experience, so I decided to post this review I wrote this back then on another review page. The server was extremely rude and treated us with hostility after we inquired about the bill. He spoke over us and wasn't apologetic about the unclear menu. They aren't extremely clear about their prices for the Paella. WATCH OUT! You can end up paying a lot for a mediocre Paella. Another server admitted to us that it wasn't the first time they overcharged due to the lack of clear pricing and false advertisement in their menu. Be aware! I would recommend you go to any other place but there.Take this advice from a NYC foodie who has traveled throughout Spain and other parts of Europe in search of good food. STAY AWAY! The tuna and tomato salad was overly dressed and oily. The Paella had tons of rosemary which was overpowering, a few chicken wings, and one piece of rabbit. Lastly, the service was horrible. The next day we bumped into the server on one of the streets and he started to follow us trying to intimidate us. It has been one of the worst restaurant experiences I...

Me and my partner waited 45 mins - 1 hour for 1 dish which was meant to be fresh fish/crustaceans and when it finally arrived it had to be the worst meal we have eaten so far on our 6 month world travel (there was only 2 other couples there at the time). The prawns, muscles and fish came out (would barley feed one person if you did choose to eat it) tasted like they were either frozen or potentially off.. We chose to leave the meal barley touched because it was disgusting. Other patrons were sitting down to order then getting up and leaving once they saw the food come out without ordering anything themselves. When I tried to tell the waiter that it wasn’t good he yelled “what” in my face and walked away. I have never been more disappointed in a meal in Europe more than this one. The staff were rude and the food was inedible. We ended up having to eat at McDonalds which was 10x more enjoyable than the “fresh seafood” they served us. DO NOT waste your money or time eating...

Very bad experience. We ordered mix of Paella Valenciana and Paella Marisco. It came on table, looking good from outside but after we found out that the rice was burnt to the pan in the bottom. Quite much. We gave it a try and then decided to complain about it. Waiter wasn't very happy, just told me the time for preparation of new portion and went away. Without saying even sorry. Other pan of Paella wasn't burnt but it was over-salted. The wine is little more expensive than in similar restaurants around so I expected better quality for that price (2,50 eur/glass). It tasted like very cheap wine. After putting a bill on the table we had to notice them twice to come for the money and bring the change. They even charged 2 euros (2 persons) for the slices of cheap baguette and little of tomato with oil, what they brought on table after seating us. That is really ridiculous. Overally very...
