Baily Bar Playa Blanca — Restaurant in Yaiza

Probably the worst service I have ever experienced in my life . I am not for posting negative reviews but feel the service we received was so so bad I was completely compelled to say something . Six of us had booked for a Sunday lunch at 1.30 pm on 6th October . We arrived at around 1.25 and were politely directed to our table. After around 10 minutes a waiter arrived to take our drinks order. After another 10 minutes the drinks arrived but the waiter had brought the wrong drinks . My wife said to him that she was sorry but she had ordered zero coke not normal coke. The waiter told her she would have to wait then as he had a headache and had problems with his family and was under pressure . We finally got the correct drinks around 1.45pm When the drinks arrived we asked if we could place our food order. He said he had other people to serve and we would have to wait about an hour. By this point the six of us (that had booked our lunch) had reached breaking point . We asked for our drinks bill and left the restaurant. I am 68 years old and in all my years I have never suffered from service like this. We went to the reception on our way out to complain about the way we had be treated and the lady we spoke to was very sympathetic and apologised but said the restaurant was not run by the hotel but she would pass on our comments. We originally had booked Baileys based on some excellent feedback but will not be visiting again for obvious reasons. Honestly I have no idea how this place earned so many 5 star reviews. Food was really bad. Grilled squid was soaked in olive oil, served with the worst potatoes i have had on the island ever and salad was made of canned corn and onion. Seriously? Fish soup tastes like Indian curry - shocking! Garlic prawns were bad, no butter just cheap oil in it. Drinks were the only thing that’s worth ordering here. I’m very disappointed. There was also some guy trying to sing, unfortunately he had a very bad voice and regardless his inability to speak any English he was trying to sing English songs.
