Saw this place last night while visiting Liberty Plaza. Looked nice from the out side, so I was craving to taste it 😁.. Went in and started inquiring about the menu and the ingredients they use from a lady (cashier and the restaurant server) who was serving another order, she explained me in a very detailed manner. Soon after that I placed the order for a Sabich. The chef/restaurant manager was kind enough to give me a tour on how my Sabich was prepared, and was served to me hot hot 🔥.. Took the 1st bite and the taste reminded me of the origin of the food, the pita bread, the pickle 🥒, the fresh veggies, hot and sweet sauce, boiled eggs, and the chef added some crunchy French fries as a compliment 😉, which rounded up the taste to a level where I could give a 5 star 🌟 review. I requested the chef that I would like to taste a Falafel if any available, but he insisted and made them fresh for me to taste. They were wonderful, the chickpeas, herbs, and the spices were on the right notch. The interior atmosphere was small but pleasant, with the wooden seating and the wooden table tops to give it a warm and a glam look. I would recommend this place, if your heart and tummy is asking for Middle Eastern...
Read moreI've eaten falafels all over the world and from many different ethic communities with their varying recipes....the falafels here have some noticeable amount of chili in, which is less normal, but no surprise this being Sri Lanka.
I found the texture of the falafels very nice, the taste also good but would have preferred less chili and more herbs or at least more herbs and greater variety of herbs. The bread used has a wonderful light airy buoyancy to it. I felt the love that had gone into choosing the bread. Option for whole meal bread would be good, but I understand it may not be in great demand and therefore not financially viable.
I did find myself wishing the falafel meal had green olives in...it didn't feel perfectly balanced taste wise....not quite sophisticated enough and with the wide spectrum of taste explosion I've experienced in some restaurants in other countries. That said, I did very much enjoy the meal, to the extent that I ordered a second falafel meal.
It's a nice clean very friendly, very small restaurant. I'd definitely eat here again when in Colombo.
I think I ate...
Read moreIt’s a little place but the food is authentic and really tasty. There are many styles of falafel in the Middle East and I wasn’t sure about the chips in the mix, but it was really delicious and the whole thing was amazing value for money. Their aubergine salad and the Arabic salad were lip-smacking good. I’ll be ordering delivery on pick-me left, right and centre! 2024 update: since that review, they have changed premises and seems like they left all their expertise behind in the move. I ordered their falafel twice (hoping it was a glitch) and it came like nothing it was before. It was stone cold, the chips were stale, I couldn’t taste or see the tahini sauce, the salad was minimum and the falafel had very little taste.the most shocking part was the portion of the salads I’d ordered with my falafel. I got a tablespoon worth of salad which although tasty was a highway robbery at 700+ rps. The same with the Moroccan salad which by the way I hadn’t ordered, but a matbucha which never arrived. What a pity, it used to...
