La Luna Colombo — Restaurant in Colombo

La Luna had a very charming atmosphere with a friendly staff. We were greeted with a smile and offered a few available tables for us to pick our choice. We decided to sit outside in the front.

They have a decent menu with quite a few options for vegetarians. We wanted to order the arancini for our starter but we were informed that they didn't have it available. Hence, we ended up ordering the bruschetta. And for the mains, we ordered 2 pizzas. The bruschetta was served and within a few minutes the pizzas were sent out to the table. Which made us try the pizza first while it was warm, and we felt a bit rushed. The timing was off when bringing the mains and we also felt that it might have caused the pizza dough not to be fully cooked. The bruschetta bread wasn't toasted making the bread very soggy. We ordered one of the pizzas mainly because the menu mentioned it having fresh buffalo mozzarella but unfortunately the pizza didn't contain this ingredient. When asked the server apologized for forgetting to mention that they had run out of it.

Saying that, Senura was our server and he did a great job besides this minor mistake. He was friendly and wore a genuine, huge contagious smile. He repeated the order and bought the condiments for the pizzas without us asking for it. He was genuinely apologetic for his mistake and went out of the way to rectify the mistake. His gesture along with the management's actions to satisfy us was quite refreshing. In fact, this has been the only instance I have experienced in a Colombo restaurant where the management took proactive decisions to provide such exceptional customer service to make a consumer happy. This made us feel that our feedback was not only heard but valued. It was very refreshing to experience this level of hospitality.

The atmosphere is very inviting and serene. They had live musicians playing music but we felt that the songs might not have been ideal for the theme of the restaurant. However, we did enjoy the music as it wasn't too loud. I would consider this place to have Italian fusion style food.

The restroom was clean and it was well stocked. And they had a separate sink for those who only wanted to wash their hands. Parking can be an issue but we were not too affected as we visited on a Sunday afternoon.

We will surely give this place a try again mainly because they won our hearts with their outstanding customer service. We have no hesitation recommending this place for their service, hospitality, customer service and ambience. They might have not gotten everything perfect with the food on the day we visited. However, the way they handled it will surely have us visiting them again, for dinner, as we want to experience the atmosphere during the night.
