Xilaton, is a unique and unexpected name for a Chinese restaurant. There is no eye catching decor, just simple tables in an ordinary surrounding. However, the food is the main attraction here and it is good. For appetizers we had egg rolls, buttered mushrooms and battered shrimp. All of it superb. For the mains, Groupa in black bean sauce, a spicy chicken item and bean curds in a sauce. Every dish was well prepared to impart taste and texture. Vegetable fried rice and vegetable noodles also came to the table. Both of these were fantastic, in their own right. For dessert, some had lychee or ice cream only. Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. For the price, the food quality was underwhelming. The soup was served completely without salt, while the beef dish was excessively salty—there seemed to be no balance in the seasoning at all. Overall, the taste of the food was quite average and didn’t justify the cost.
Additionally, the person who took our order wasn’t helpful when we asked questions about the menu and seemed unsure of the dishes. The ambience also left a lot to be desired—the place had a musty smell, similar to an old house, which affected the overall dining experience.
