Food maybe nice but they have the worst service where the waiters are concerned.I dont know how the system works here since I am from Malaysia. On the 2nd week of October 2022,I and my wife went to this restaurant after heard about it.One waiter ( a bespectacle eldery man) took an order.Told him I want rawa thosai and this was during lunch hour,he told not available during lunch time and I pointed their time serving for thosai is up to 10.30 pm as stated in the menu.He went off but I was told to wait half an hour. Then, another waiter passed by and I called him to ask for plain water but he pretended that he didnt hear me.When another waiter came,I asked again and he scolded another waiter, enquiring who is taking our orders. It came to my mind that only the first waiter should serve us and nobody else. But if we really need to order the next item,in this case milk tea, etc,do we have to wait for the first waiter who took orders to come? What happens if he is not around? The payment system is screwed up.The waiter asked whether you are done and when you say yes, they go to the counter brings you the receipt and wait for you to give the money, they pay on your behalf and brings loose change and give back to you hoping you will give TIPS.That waiter actually stopped me from going to the counter but at this stage I was fuming mad,but I went on to pay at the counter. And the waiter was just standing behind me and I ignored him initially but had a change of heart and gave him tips anyway since they work for money. Give tips only if you feel the waiters deserved it otherwise dont. In Malaysia, the restaurants, majority run by Indians especially from the muslim community will take your orders and place a small plastic "credit card" size and upon completing your meals, take the card to the counter and make the payment. No mandatory tips! Tips are only in fine dining restaurants, again at one's discretion. To Sri Vaishvani Vihar management, please improve your service if you want to stay in food business.Your service really sucks and that will be the last time we patronise your restaurant. If you asked me,Sri Shanmuga's restaurant food is the really excellent...
Read moreI had an absolutely delightful experience at New Vaishnavi Vihar, one of my favorite go-to spots for vegetarian Indian food in Dehiwala. This time, I tried their North Indian Special Meals, and I was beyond impressed! 💯 The meal included a full spread — soup, chapathi, biriyani, dhal fry, paneer butter masala, papadam, curd, sago dessert, pickle, and white rice — all perfectly portioned and so flavorful. Every item was fresh, well-balanced in taste, and served hot. Honestly, it was more than worth the price for a single person — a complete treat! 🥰 My fiancé ordered the Paneer Masala Dosai and Ulundu Wade (2 pcs) — both were crispy, authentic, and bursting with flavor. He enjoyed every bite! Special mention to the friendly server (photo uploaded!) who always makes us feel welcome. His service has been consistently warm and attentive every time we visit. ✅ Ambience: Clean, calm, and family-friendly ✅ Service: Fast, polite, and thoughtful ✅ Hygiene: Excellent ✅ Pricing: Super affordable for the quality and quantity Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine in Colombo. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this place...
Read moreI'm not one to post bad reviews, but I feel the need to share my experience here. My family and I decided to have dinner at this restaurant because we had enjoyed their food through delivery before and had also dined there a few years ago. We chose the air-conditioned seating area upstairs as we were a group of around 10 people, excluding kids. When we arrived, we were surprised to see many people waiting outside, and although there was a free table available, we had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated, only to be placed in an area with no air conditioning. We waited an additional 20 minutes for a waiter to come and take our order, and then it took another 40 minutes for our food to be delivered. While I understand that things can get busy during rush hours and mistakes can happen, this was a clear case of bad service. I recommend that they improve their staff training, and it seems like the higher-ups don't value their customers. The service was really poor, and the food was just average. I usually don't complain about slow service, but in this case, I have to say that it's better to get the food delivered...
