Puspams Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Colombo

Its a pretty small estqblishment in Kotahena. They have dine in option as well as take away and delivery. You would not miss it with the bright purple color painted on its building. We only did a takeaway so I cannot give anything about the service. But we called to give an order to go and it was ready on time. The prices are a bit on the high side compare to the other similar places in Colombo. We got a large spicy mix rice and medium batter fried cuttle fish portion. Rice was true to its name, spicy and tasted good. Alos provided a small portion of chilie paste which okay in tatse. But did not have much meat, fish or seafood mixed in. And the quantity could be more considereing the its a large portion and the price we had to pay. Cuttlefiah was an utter dissapointment. Neither it had the taste or the structure of a good batterfried food. Verything batter resulting in an overcooked rubbery pieces of cuttlefish. Pushpams honestly doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. The mediocre dine-in experience and ambience overshadow how good the food really is.

When I had a chat with the owner, he mentioned that for the past 5 to 10 years they were only taking takeaway orders. But the dine-in experience is really something else.

Saying they have one of the best hot butter cuttlefish dishes might seem like an overstatement, but believe me when I say they have one of the best hot butter cuttlefish in Colombo.

The sweet and sour prawns were fluffy, juicy, and fresh, and the hot butter prawn was to die for.

Really disappointed about food quality and the taste. Bought two fried rices as seafood and mixed and couldn't find any piece of chicken in mixed rice. Pieces of cuttlefish were tiny and even couldn't taste as cuttlefish. Don't waste your money and you can find hundreds of another restaurants better than this worst place. Finally accepted his fault and deducted 200rs from total bill. Anyhow...
