We came here as a group of 25 people and were told that we would have the restaurant to ourselves for 2 hours. We were told to order beforehand which I thought was understandable as preparing over 30 dishes on demand can be challenging for a small kitchen. However, with this I thought the food would come within 20 minutes as the restaurant had over 5 hours to prepare the food. This was not the case however, we waited for over an hour for our food before it arrived and even then only the curries arrived and even then none of the sides such as the rice and naan came, so by time the sides came (around 15min later) the curries were almost cold.
When talking about the food itself, I ordered a paneer butter masala, a classic dish along most Indian restaurants. It is know to be on the milder side so I didn't expect there to be any spice but I didn't expect to taste like NOTHING!
When it came out it looked so unappetizing, but that is besides the point. When I finally got my naan to eat the gray tasted like nothing - like I was eating straight up cream. Then when I taste the paneer it tasted like it had been cut up and put in then served to me because the paneer didn't absorb any flavor (the very little that was in the gravy to begin with). Additionally the paneer was extremely hard and had a powdery texture.
Lastly when coming to the plain naan - it was ok, nothing special a bit chewy but honestly the best out of the food I ordered.
I also ordered a mango lassi to drink which was good.
All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are...
Read moreThe person at the counter (maybe owner) was very rude. We were three families with kids with two strollers. He started with how many will eat and then he said twice that no strollers inside and then he said we have a policy that every adult must order one dish. We said okay, sat down and ordered. all three families were sitting on three separate tables but they came and put dishes, glasses and everything on one table and we had to distribute ourselves. Then the main order came and he brought two bowls of rice and put it on two tables. After five minutes when we asked for third bowl, he said this rice is for all. We got angry and complained that it is confusing when you bring rice for all together when we have ordered separately and we are three families, but he rudely said that there is no confusion, if you want I will give you one more bowl to divide. But this was height of rudeness as if he was insisting on ordering one dish per person, why not one rice per dish and at least one bowl per family. We were tired and hungry after whole day at Liseberg and this restaurant is the closest but after this experience I want to warn people to avoid this...
Read moreThis place is really good. I went there with my wife and two kids. The food is excellent. My kids got the Delhi Style Butter Chicken, I got the Indiya Royal Mix plate and my wife got the Chicken Tandoori. When it comes to taste it can only be described as a pure pleasure. The flavors are really nice and authentic and you really enjoy every bite, even my kids loved it (both of them being somewhat picky eaters which, of course, most children usually are). If I had to choose something to complain it would be about the "Royal Mix" not being so "Royal" in the sense that I hardly got more food than the kids' menu (a bit more rice and two small "murg seekh kebab") but the taste was excellent and enough. Make sure you get a Naan bread, they were excellent to. The overall experience was a pleasure. Decoration and ambiance was great, not too overwhelming and tables are fairly spaced apart to give you some nice personal space between companies. Absolutely a place I would recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy northern...
