Tacos & Tequila — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

We had walked across Gothenburg to have lunch at the restaurant next to tacos and tequila but we took a left rather than a right at the last turn and ended up sat reading the menu before we realised our mistake. 🤦‍♂️

The staff were friendly and accommodated us, the pram and our 11 month old son.

We skipped starers as my son doesn’t do stationary for very long.

I had the pork tacos and a local beer and my wife the fish tacos, they arrived promptly.

My taco was very tasty, the pork (belly) was cooked to perfection and had a great fat to meat ratio. The beer was also really tasty, it left me googling it try and find a uk supplier (no luck).

The meal of 2 tacos, 1 beer and a soft drink cake to approx £40. This sounds expensive but we would later that day pay £60 for a bbq buffet so i feel the pricing is probably right for Gothenburg.

The restaurant is nice, better than the one we aimed for. The staff were friendly. The only downside is the accessibility of the restaurant, there is no child changing facility and the toilets were up a spiral staircase. But saying that a restaurant with tequila in the name most probably isn’t aimed at the...

There are people who are saying this is not good Mexican food, but now, having been a native Californian and self proclaimed Mexican food expert, I have developed this theory.

Those of y'all that say this isn't good Mexican food, are people who haven't haaaad good Mexican food.

Now hear me out, I'm not talking to you, I'm just saying you should open your minds to new and different things and understand that this, my dear Swedes, is some really good Mexican food.

We came to around 6pm on a Friday and got the last patio spot, thanks to my boyfriends glowing record from "charmers" university located nearby. They have a huge smoking and non smoking outside section. The waiters are super friendly as is the bartender.

Now the food! Each order of tacos gets you two tacos, we got the pork, beef, and fish. Which were basically versions of tacos all pastor, beef (no change), and Baja fish tacos!

They are delicious !! Down to the soft flour tortilla and actual real sour cream.

We had sweet potato fries which were delicious as they were random, and some excellent guac.

Excellent food. I had the chili and the guacamole dishes while my party enjoyed some of the Tacos. The serving sizes were somewhat small, and given that the price was quite high getting two dishes is a no-op for many customers.

Staff was super friendly and accomodating. Refilled our nachos without blinking an eye.

The restaurant itself was nice. We sat outside and did not feel crowded. The sound level was absolutely right.

Looking back and after reading reviews i realise that the idea is to order many dishes and share with your party. This is not clear from the menu and should be made more clear. The risk now is that someone orders just one nacho dish, which is not very much food. The high price of over 100 sek per dish does not indicate that you should order several as this is the price for an entire dish at some places.

I remove one star for the combo of price and portion size and because it is not clear that you should order several dishes. Small portions is not an issue alone, but on a student budget with dishes sitting at over 100 sek, ordering multiple dishes is difficult.
