Review for Clarion hotel Draken, Olof Palmes Plats 2, 413 30 Göteborg, Sweden ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently stayed at the Clarion Hotel Draken in Gothenburg, and I can honestly say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality from the staff. Every employee I encountered wore a smile and was eager to assist, making me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay. The hotel's location is simply fantastic—just a stone’s throw away from the charming Haga district, where I enjoyed exploring its picturesque streets filled with unique shops and cozy cafés. The proximity to the city’s main attractions made it incredibly convenient for sightseeing, and I loved that I could easily venture out to experience the best of Gothenburg. My room was beautifully designed, clean, and equipped with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The modern decor and thoughtful touches made it a true home away from home. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed, which ensured I woke up refreshed and ready to explore the city each day. One of the highlights of my stay was the outstanding breakfast spread. With a variety of delicious options, from fresh pastries to hearty Scandinavian fare, it was a perfect way to start each day. The restaurant's friendly staff created a cheerful atmosphere, enhancing the overall dining experience. What truly stood out to me was the dedication of the team at Clarion Hotel Draken. Whether I needed advice on local attractions or assistance with a late check-out, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met, all while maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Clarion Hotel Draken to anyone visiting Gothenburg. With its excellent location, comfortable accommodations, and exceptional service, it’s the perfect choice for travelers looking for a memorable experience in this wonderful city. I can’t...
Read moreThe positives: It's a a brand spanking new tower hotel a ten minute bicycle ride away from most important attractions in Gothenburg and only a a short walk from the Långgatans's restaurant area. If you pay a little extra you can get to the upper floors and get one of the best views in the whole of Gothenburg. The beds are great, and the bathroom and televisio are big and casting to TV works well. I liked the breakfast a lot, definetely better than average with fesh omelettes, pancakes and whatnot.
The negatives: Having such great views, the hotel has an unique problem with guests peering through the windows and leaving finger, hand, nose, cheek and forehead prints everywhere. Even our freshly cleaned room's windows had handprints on them. A littly yucky. As written in other reviews, someone skimped on the sound insulation A LOT. I have spent nights in Hotels built in the 1900s that have better walls. We could clearly hear every word spoke in the hallway, but luckily we didn't have anyone staying in the neighbouring rooms and all the other guests in our floor were very considerate. The biggest reason why I am scoring the Draken low is the service. We're always traveling by bicycle and this hotel is the first one outside of Japan that outright refused to store our bicycles inside for the night. We were told that there was no room at the luggage storage and that taking a bicycle to our (superior) room was a fire hazard. The Olof Palmes plats outside the hotel doesn't even have frame locking racks and the hotel does not accomodate any bicycle racks themselves. So, we waited until the receptionist changed and asked again. Finally the third person we talked to gave us the permission to store our bicycles in the totally empty luggage room as long as we picked them up at 8am. This is why I will never stay in Draken again and recommend any cyclist to give the...
Read moreMy stay at this hotel was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. Here are the numerous issues we encountered:
Nonexistent Service
The staff at this hotel is totally ineffective and absent. Upon our arrival, we ordered food from outside, but instead of notifying us, the staff left the food in the street. A total lack of professionalism.
Questionable Cleanliness
The room was in a deplorable state upon our arrival. There was a sticky stain on the floor, dust everywhere in the closet and on the furniture. We had to request a second cleaning to make the room barely acceptable.
Housekeeping Not Done
Despite our multiple visits to the front desk to request that housekeeping be done at 9 AM, we returned from our excursions at 3 PM to find the room still not cleaned. Unacceptable for a hotel claiming to offer quality service.
Difficulty Reaching the Front Desk
It took us between 6 to 8 calls to reach the front desk because there are no phones in the rooms. We had to use our own phone to call them and hope they would finally answer.
Disastrous Breakfast
Breakfast was another disaster. Everything is self-service: you have to get your own cutlery, glass, salt, pepper, coffee. There are staff present, but they apparently have no tasks to perform since you have to do everything yourself.
Rude Staff
The staff at this establishment is absolutely nonexistent and rude. Special mention to Emilie who openly mocks customers and told us, “Go ahead, leave a review, it’s not a problem” when we mentioned we would leave negative feedback.
I do not understand how this hotel obtained its stars. Perhaps for its modern design, but certainly not for cleanliness or service. The only thing you can expect to find here is a bed. For everything else, zero service, zero professionalism, zero comfort. Avoid...
