Went here during the Medieval Week (Medeltidsveckan) in a company of eight people. We ordered four servings of medieval tapas (3 meat, 1 one veg), and were severely disappointed. At first there were no available tables, even though we had booked one (1) table, so we were placed with other guests. Then we were handed different versions of the menu, (three of the menus we were given were apparently outdated and not supposed to be in circulation). Following the faulty menus, we ourselves had to ask to be seated at an available table. The pre course was good, no complaints. The meat main course (chicken, root veggies and saurkraut) had dry saurkraut, even more dry chicken (seriously, the chicken tasted and felt like they had cooked it inside an open flame), it was actually hard in some places. Nearing the end of the main course, pub guests where allowed to begin sitting in this part of the restaurant - our "dinner" was interrupted by overly drunken and very loud people disorderly sitting next to us while we were still eating. After waiting for the dessert for over an hour, we were told the kitchen apparently "didn't get the message" that we wanted dessert, as well as being told that the kitchen didn't have the ingredients to make the promised dessert. Hopefully this dinner, and the poor impression, has to do with poor planning and communication, rather than just poor quality. However, based on this experience, I would not recommend going here with a large gathering late at night. Thankfully, the staff tried to be as accommodating (as possible), and were very apologetic and understanding...
Read moreThis place was above all expectations. I have visited "medieval" restaurants before (including one in Vilnius, "Lokys" where they served a beaver stew), but this one was a credible dive into medieval cuisine and atmosphere/habits. After having played KCD1&2 this place truly hit the nerve. We ordered the Crusade chicken which was very tender and the meat slid easily off the bones. One dish for two is really satiating. The sweet dried fruits balanced the spices of the chicken very well. I think modern obsession with spices (appearing in the comments) is but a sign of dull and constricted taste, and I wish this kind of rough flavor with a broad spectre of tastes was more commonplace. The dish also came with a surprise - one of the hosts made a fire show for us. The creativity, historical awareness and medieval weirdness are very well combined in the design of the interior and the back garden....
