Slottsträdgårdens Kafé — Restaurant in Malmö kommun

We came as a family of three to this café and were told all tables were fully booked. The staff offered us a temporary seat with the condition that we’d move if the reserved party showed up. Moments later, a white family of six walked in with no booking and were seated immediately—no questions asked.

There was also a table with a reservation sign that sat empty for over 45 minutes. We asked if we could have a quick coffee there, and were told no. Then, one staff member accused us of removing the reservation sign (which we didn’t), while another admitted they had already seated a non-booked family. Suddenly, a new table “became available” after all the back-and-forth—but by then, we’d had enough and left.

The double standard in how we were treated was obvious. We felt unwelcome and singled out. I’ve never seen tables held this long, even in Michelin-star restaurants—let alone a café. This experience left a very clear impression: not everyone is treated...

All in all we had a good time but I feel the staff needs some feedback on customer interaction. We arrived relatively late, but well in advance of closing hours. Neverhteless, for the 1.5 hours we were there, we could watch staff (over)eagerly closing down tables, carrying them and chairs away for the night. Even when there were still customers occupying those seats! We could see multiple instances of staff asking customers to move so they could close the tables. Most looked upset by the staff's request and just left instead of moving. (Bad for business I am sure.) Some customers, who went inside to buy more drinks, came out to find their tables closed down by the staff behind their backs (even though they very visibly left their belongings at the table). This over eager closing down activity was perceived by many as very stressful and unfriendly to the customers....
