Located on the top floor of a design hotel is a sky bar with nice cocktails and design flaws.
Half the floor is a restaurant and the other half a bar. The interior is dark, with a mix of wood and steel in various shades of black. Why not concrete, to give an industrial feel and thus preserve the air of the former shipbuilding neighbourhood, we wonder? When we arrive around 18h00 on a Saturday, we first notice how small the bar-area actually is; with its L-shape measuring not much more than 5 meters wide, the area feels crowded, even though there is not 30 people in the bar. The lack of seat-options troubles both us and other new arrivals, and we’re surely not the only ones wondering why the oversize bar, with its cocktails glasses and spirits, is positioned in such an ideal view-blocking location. The (lack of) floor-planning gives the impression of a job done in the 11th hour.
The staff is friendly and once we find some seats, we enjoy the bartenders’ skills in well chilled glasses. The cocktails are nicely done and presented, and - considering the location - not jaw dropping expensive. An hour later, when new thirsty cocktail lovers flock from the elevator, the lack of seats becomes more and more enigmatic.
On my way out I am absolutely horrified to discover that they serve their tonic from hoses [sic!]. Call me a snob, but hey - I’m in the expensive part of town, so I expected at least two choices of bottled tonic. The quick stop at the lavatory is a disappointment; neither fancy fragrance, chick design, nor nice smelling soap. Any of these would have lifted the experience considerably.
Summa summarum, if you decide to go there on a...
Read moreWe booked a table for two for dinner. The vibe was excellent. It took a minute to be greeted on entrance and seated. Offered menu and drinks, proceeded to order two wonderful starters and cocktails. Staff polite. View excellent. All good up till now.
Everything went downhill after that.
We were forgotten about and when asked for the menu for the mains was informed the kitchen had closed. Apparently we were expected to have ordered it all at once on arrival? We were not informed of this. Like EVERY other restaurant, why not tell us when we were ordering our appetisers that the kitchen will be closing soon and that we need your complete our order now.
Secondly, an odd thing to assume somebody would like to just order appetisers? Especially if they have BOOKED a table for dinner. They removed the dishes for the appetisers and left us.
Anyhow, they did offer to reopen and serve us. Given option of ‘steak or fish’. No menu to look at or choose. Had what felt like a rushed salmon meal for which we paid full price for.
Forget about dessert, as that was definitely not being offered.
Disappointed at the service on this occasion. In fact, at this price point unacceptable. The little things can make the difference. They did not offer an apology either. Therefore I am sorry, I won’t...
Read moreOn the 8th of march, me and my family came to this beautiful place to celebrate international women's day. At the entrance hostess (blond Swedish girl) told us that we should wait and she'll assist us in a minute. We waited 20 min and then hostess informed us that we needed to book a table to be seated. When I asked her why she didn't told us that straight away instead of forcing us to wait 20 min, she was very rude and unprofessional. She responded that she was busy which is understandable but tell me why did she had time under those 20 minutes to tell us three times "I'll be right back to help you guys" instead of telling us there is booking needed. Very unprofessional. Nevertheless while we waited we saw one of the chiefs in the kitchen picked up his phone from the pocket and then after proceeded to cook without washing hands. Disgusting. Everybody who work in the kitchen knows that this is against...
