Sweden 🇸🇪 Stockholm - Cafés Earlier this month, we were swept away by the enchanting allure of Greasy Spoon - a place that is more than just a café. The impeccable service, the tantalizing lattes, and the delectable shared plates were more than enough to satisfy our gastronomic cravings. From the first sip, the lattes - a creamy blend concocted with OatMilk - were nothing short of ambrosial. They were so phenomenal, in fact, that we splurged, blew our daily latte budget and order a round to go. The shared plates were a symphony of flavors, with the blueberry pancakes stealing the show. Every bite was a harmonious blend of sweetness and comfort, reminding us of lazy Sunday mornings and breakfasts in bed. Stepping into Greasy Spoon, you are instantly transported to your favorite nostalgic college town café in the heart of the US, albeit with a slightly steeper price tag. But don't let that deter you. The ambiance is a warm embrace of familiarity, a comforting nudge towards the good old days. The vibe is infectious, the charm irresistible. Having had such a memorable experience, we can hardly wait for our next visit. Our hearts are set on exploring the plethora of other options that caught our eye on the menu.

Upon arrival there was a 45 minute waiting time (which was all good), made our reservation at the entrance, took a stroll. Got a text to say our table was ready. We were seated inside at the back. The music was a bit loud, but bearable. A lovely gentleman with long hair took our drinks order & it was delivered by an equally lovely lady. We decided to have something savoury, corn fritters to share and the scrumptious looking blueberry pancakes each. Things were great until it was time to clear the table and pay. Another server cleared our table, at which point I asked to have my half eaten pancakes packed to take away, as I was stuffed like a prized pig. It seemed like the request was a nuisance! He returned shortly with a paper bag & it took a while before we could pay. I understand that it was busy but someone was in a terrible mood. When I got home & opened the box I noticed that he had simply dumped the pancakes quite inconsiderately in the box. If it was too much to ask for, I could’ve done that myself or left it.

It's one of the best brunches in Stockholm. They have two locations, one on Södermalm (the hipster area, kind of) and one close to Odenplan (another place to live I guess). EDIT: they have more now. It gets very crowded and there's no reservation possible. However if you get there the first hour it's pretty good with seats, otherwise you may have to wait. They have a list, so don't forget to sign up when you get there. They've also implemented a text service, so they'll text you when your table is ready or just before. English speaking staff Easy going attitude Eggs Arlington (salmon instead of spinach) is great. Smashed avo as well and of course their pancakes! If you take the full english, don't add the hash brown/rösti. EDIT: I stand by this. The French toast is also excellent. Avo bene is a new favourite. Eggs and smashed avocado is a good combination. EDIT: (I do spend a tad much money here, so I don’t go as often anymore… but you don’t have to get juice, cappuccino/tea.)

There are so many places labelled Greasy Spoon around the world. It's a concept, a greasy spoon is a restaurant of its own type. There are key components: the food must be cheapish. The portions must be huge. The coffee must be black and so very easily available. The breakfast should be English or an approximation of it. And it should not have any pretentious trappings at all. It can be nice, cost, pleasant, etc, but not "over designed". Sadly, so many of the Greasy Spoons suck. Just... Terrible. This however is not one of them. This is food at a reasonable (by Swedish standards) cost. The portions are bloody huge. And tasty. The coffee is black and refills are considered mandatory. The menu has eggs Benedict to English Breakfast and huge fluffy yank pancakes. And the staff are lovely, and the decor and vibe perfect. 6am. Opening let's you know it's the real deal. Also the bloody Mary is on point. Fully recommended, why breakfast anywhere else in Stockholm?

This place has great brunch options if you're into the English brunch scene. They offer some great savory and sweet options so it covers the whole brunch spectrum. They don't have a ton to choose from but I've never been disappointed. I tend to get a version of eggs Benedict that they have (they have a couple different versions) and usually whatever special pancakes they're serving for the week to split as a dessert! Also worth it to say that they have pretty good cappuccino at this place...I'm quite picky when it comes to espresso based drinks but figured I'd also mention this place is better than most. Highly recommend but make sure to get there early because they don't take reservations and all people in the party need to be there before they seat you! And believe me, wait times can be up to 2 hours on a busy day!

This is my favorite brunch local in Stockholm. Not only is the service incredible, the vibe international, and the cuisine pleasant to look it, they make a perfect poached egg, which is never easy to do. It is very easy to overcook them. Their perfectly poached eggs along with all of the other ingredients makes one of the best eggs Benedict (or other poached egg based dishes) I have ever had (one would have to travel to Munich or Vienna to find a worthy rival, in my opinion). I had the eggs Benedict with salmon, however try the blueberry pancakes too, they are heavenly. It's the delicious dishes combined with the atmosphere and the service that earns it five stars. If you get a chance, check it out for brunch, get a poached egg, and have some lovely small talk with the staff, you won't regret it.
