I was recommended to try A&O since it’s newly opened, and to my surprise, the food was spot on. Adam, the chef, is super knowledgeable of his craft, while Oliver, the host, adds a touch of Swedish friendliness. The decor is very minimalistic with beautiful decoration, ample free space, and a non-congested layout.
The restaurant’s concept revolves around serving food in small portions, akin to a tasting menu, with superb presentation and flavors that are rare to find in many Swedish restaurants.
What I Tried and Loved:
Japansk Wagyu: Cooked to perfection with incredible freshness and a delightful mix of flavors. Gyoza Dumpling: Better than those I’ve tried at Nobu; absolutely delicious. KFC: It’s like a dessert, but I won’t spoil the surprise—go try it and let me know what you think. Choklad for Dessert: Paired wonderfully with two glasses of Gaia Malbec.
Tips for Your Visit:
Solo Diners: Ask for the kitchen bar to watch the chef’s artistry up close. Engage with the Chef: Inquire about Adam’s culinary background; his story is fascinating.
I highly recommend A&O, especially for a romantic date with someone who appreciates the art of food. It’s a hidden gem in Vasteras...
Read moreMy husband and I had the tasting menu here, 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine. Some of the dishes were exquisite and some we honestly did not appreciate. Our first disappointment was that the tasting menu displayed on the website included a tartare which is the reason why we even went here in the first place. Tartare is our favorite dish so it was a huge disappointment when it appeared that the menu at the restaurant was different - we got thinly sliced wagyu beef instead of tartare. We both found the flavor profile slightly unpleasant, too perfumey (bergamot) and too fatty. Also wasn’t a huge fan of the granita element of the dessert. Goat’s cheese sauce on the main course was kind of grainy and too strong to paired with delicate halibut. Other than that everything else was spot on, our favorite was the beef main course (yin & yang), the cheesy starter and the coffee snack. Cocktails were to die for. We will 100% come back for another...
