Elma Steakhouse — Restaurant in Västerås kommun

Visited this restaurant for the first time after hearing a lot of praise — many describe it as a 5-star spot for food and service. We specifically came for their weekend lunch offer (Fri–Sun, 11:30–14:00), which is advertised online as a special menu with six handpicked dishes.

We were seated at 12:25 but only received the à la carte menu. When we asked about the lunch offer, we were told it had to be ordered at the cashier, where the menu is posted. No one mentioned this when we arrived, and there was no clear sign or information at the table. For a well-promoted summer special, I expected it to be offered directly or at least clearly explained.

I ordered the New York Steak 250g (245 SEK), medium rare, with potato wedges and pepper sauce. Unfortunately, the orders got mixed up — I received my friend’s medium steak, and she got mine. We ended up switching plates ourselves. The steak was inconsistently cooked — some parts were medium rare, but others were more done and turned out chewy.

The potato wedges were tasty but there were only 7 pieces, and I got béarnaise sauce instead of the pepper sauce I ordered. The sauce portion was small and didn’t last through the whole meal, so I had to eat the last part of the steak without any sauce or sides.

Although the steak is listed as 250g, it didn’t feel like a generous portion — especially since it only came with potatoes and a small dip.

Also worth mentioning: my friend ordered a Coke with her meal, and it was served in a regular glass. However, we noticed that nearby guests, who seemed to be ordering from the à la carte menu, were served Coca-Cola in glass bottles. That discrepancy felt odd, and we couldn’t help but assume that the difference was due to us ordering from the lunch menu instead of à la carte.

The food was okay, but the portion felt small for the price, and the service lacked attention to detail and clear communication — surprising for a restaurant with such a high reputation.

I guess their lunch menu isn’t really their strong suit, and they probably put more focus and effort into the à la carte and dinner...

Vi kom fram till restaurangen och precis utanför fanns det gratis parkering dygnet runt, fantastiskt.

Vi kliver in och blir eskorterad till en hörna med soffa och gott om plats för 5 personer. En härlig ljus och stor matplats med bekväma soffor och rena matplatser, som både var modernt och klassisk look.

På andra sidan matsalen vid  kassan kunde man se på köttdisken med färska delikatesser och även där hängde Dry Age kött.

Servitören kom fram till oss och vi frågade vad de rekommenderar och han då förklarade att New York Steak var mest populär och sedan bör man äta Dry Age Kuzu Kafes  hängmörat kött som har mörats i 25 dgr. Det är en speciell typ av mörnings process som ligger i flera dagar för att göra köttet saftig. Så vi bestämde oss för att gå efter det som rekommenderade. Innan maten serverades kom färsk bakad varmt bröd med smör och dricka. Samtidigt kom 2 st cocktail drinkar Red Berry som bestod av jordgubb, hallon och Elmas special med passioonfrukt.  Väldigt vackert dekorerade drycker perfekt svalkande i värmen.  Vi började snabbt äta då vi var hungriga och det varma bröder gick inte att motstå.

Nu var det dags för maten, först kom spenat och champinjon stuvning och deras speciell lagade krämig sås med sallad som vi beställt.

Sedan kom dagens föreställning. En kille nmanet Yusef kommer med kniv och den andra kommer med träplankan med köttet på. Det var inte bara mat som serverades utan det var en hel föreställning. En kille hämtar en skål där han häller någon vätska för att skapa ångor. Den vita ångan fyller vår bord och samtidigt början den andra kille skära köttbitarna. Fint lägger han bitarna på träplankan och det sista touchen med salt flingorna och så var det klar för oss att äta.

Bara det sättet de serverar maten var en upplevelse, barnen var alldeles häpna över föreställningen. Otroligt duktig,  professionell och  supertrevlig personal som kom och frågade om vi önskade något och om maten var bra.

Vår U- sväng var lyckat...

It was a fantastic experience! I went there with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered the tomahawk, a few starters, and some drinks. The staff was incredibly friendly ..while we were trying to take some selfies, a few of them kindly offered to help and captured some wonderful pictures for us. It truly made the evening memorable. I’ll definitely be visiting this place again. Thank you for making our anniversary special, even though we hadn’t mentioned it ... you still made it...
