Restaurant Indian Summer North Kitchen — Restaurant in Basel

Listen up, this is a love letter to your Chilli Chicken. I've been ordering it for what feels like a lifetime, and every single time, the flavours are next-level, food-coma inducing deliciousness. Seriously, as a south asian, I live for this spicy level.

But we need to have a little chat about the portion size. For 12 CHF, I got 3.5 tiny pieces of chicken. And I order normally 2 portions because I know its an starter dish but even for a starter the portion is incredibly tiny. I mean, come on, guys, it looked like someone took half a chicken breast, gave it a chop, and called it a day. My taste buds were throwing a fiesta, but my stomach was left feeling like it got stood up at the prom.

So here’s my desperate plea: Please, for the love of all things spicy, either share your magical Chilli Chicken recipe so I can attempt to recreate it (and probably fail spectacularly) at home, or, even better, increase the portion size! Just a few more pieces of that divine chicken would make my day – nay, my life! Help a hungry fan out and throw in a bit...

The atmosphere was good & the service too.. I will have one suggestion, the dishes were taking time to come, so maybe a bit of an improvement possible there.. However, I understand that, you must be busy with a lot of customers today, since it was the rush of the peak time & the weekend.. So all good there!

From the food perspective, the starters and drinks were amazing! Really good.. The main course, specially those Indian specific main course dishes were good, an improvement needed in the Lamm Biryani & probably the sweet (Halwa).. These were average. Everything else was simply delicious!

An additional comment, considering the price to quantity ratio, we would say, you can increase the quantity a bit more. For example, in this Tandoori Chicken starter, there were just two pieces, tbh, other competitors serve more! So, just a friendly suggestion to increase the quantity a little bit more! Disappointing Experience at Restaurant "Indian Summer, Basel, Switzerland

I must say this was our worst experience in Switzerland. I visited this restaurant with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday on 4th Oct 2025, and unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant.

What Happened:

We asked if we could cut a birthday cake for my wife. The staff (a lady) declined our request.

Later, another lady (whom we assumed was the owner) seemed okay with it. However, the previous staff member returned and rudely questioned why we asked again, stating she had already said no.

Her tone and behavior were unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful.

This was our first unpleasant experience in Switzerland, which made it even more disappointing.

On a positive note, the ambience was good.
