Restaurant pizzeria Alta 1874 — Restaurant in Champéry

We’ve come here every year however the service this year was awful. Our waitress from the start was rude even though we always make sure we’re super polite especially when we’re in a different country. She asked for our drink order but got annoyed when we asked for a drinks menu, how can we order drinks without a menu? They delivered our mains without clearing our table so that was messy, We asked for a pizza cutter to cut our pizzas and was treated with rude facial expressions she was eye rolling and snarky remarks, she then took one pizza away and put 0% effort into cutting the pizza. We waited over 40 mins for the bill and had to ask ourselves we was clearly ignored, I understand they are busy but as I said we are always super polite so the poor service was a let down. We were a party of 7. We came at the start of dinner, and the restaurant was still empty. Staff members are friendly, and we all enjoyed the food, drinks and desert very much. I give it 3 stars because they had a live band of good musicians who were much too-loud! Their volume level was average of 98 db (I have an app that checks noise levels because I am a working musician, and need to take care of my hearing). We asked the bar man to request to turn down the music. He did, and the level went down for one song. Then it was back to such loud level, that we had to yell to each other while sitting at the same table. I give this 3 star rating with pain in my heart. Why? Well I’ve observed a very proffesional team at work. They are not cutting corners at all and are putting a lot of efford in their work. The ambiance in this place is also very nice. A really good place to stay. There is just one problem with the core of their business; wrong combinations of flavours and/or textures in their dishes. They use fine ingredients and you can tell that they put effort in creating good food but somehow manage to make combinations that just don’t work that well.
