Ristorante Bar Lungolago — Restaurant in Circolo di Locarno

We invited 8 people to the restaurant and were embarrassed by the terrible service and the unprofessional attitude of the waitress and waiters. To begin with, we ordered drinks and a bit of munchies to start the evening. We had come to this restaurant having seen an amazing appetizer platter being served. When I requested that platter for our table, we were informed that we couldn’t have it. I asked another waiter about it and he said that we could have it but rudely said that we would have to pay for it. Obviously. The drinks weren’t served together with some arriving 15 minutes after others. Our waitress forgot to give in one order and I had to go to the barman and back to our waitress to finally receive it , 30 minutes after the others. The same thing happened with the dinners we ordered. Some arrived 10 minutes after others. Our waitress forgot once again to give in two orders and by the time that food came, the others had finished eating. To top it off, aside from a bottle of wine, we ordered jugs of tap water for the table, which is quite common in Switzerland. I had to ask numerous times and wait for 10 minutes each time I asked for water. Some staff were quite hostile and openly complained about a client at a different table within our earshot . One staff member was great but everyone else was aggressive and...

We thought we'd give this restaurant another chance after the scandal with the previous owner. Well, that joke was on us. Apart from the annoying TV's in every corner where you look, even during lunch time, the staff seemed rather uncoordinated. After we got a tiny salad for 20 CHF we already kind of felt cheated, but after we got the bill and saw the price for the water, we were rather outraged. When ordering, we asked and confirmed with the waitress several times that we wanted a "caraffa di acqua" which should be offered gratis legally. Of course, they charged us 8 CHF for the water anyway and apologized later for the "misunderstanding". Sure, when you hear only what you want to hear, you will not understand your customer correctly.... In any case, we will definitely not return to this place. If you go there anyway and want the gratis water that you are legally entitled to (when main dishes are served, as everywhere in Ticino), ask explicitly for "acqua del rubinetto", then they can't weasel out and charge you "accidently" for it. Very good Pizza. That's the most important thing. So we enjoyed the food very much. The place is average, accommodations are old and basic, but the place has its charme, a nice view on the Lago Maggiore and the staff is nice. We had a little bit of bad luck with a screaming toddler combined with questionable parenting in close proximity, as well as a bunch of smokers. This not being the fault of the Risto it isn't affecting my score. But if you're sensitive to noise and smoke make sure to check the situation before...
