We were the only Asian guests in the restaurant that day. After we were seated, we had to raise our hands and wait quite a while before anyone came to take our order — that part I can understand. But what I cannot understand is why every other table, whether it was the guests who arrived before us and sat to our left, or the ones who came in after us and sat to our right, all received a complimentary plate of prawn crackers shortly after sitting down — except us. I watched carefully: the servers even offered refills of the crackers to those tables, walking past us multiple times, but never once stopping to offer us any.
I’m not upset about the prawn crackers themselves — it’s not about that. I’m just genuinely curious why the staff at a Chinese restaurant would deliberately ignore Asian customers like us. Later on, I directly asked one of the servers why we didn’t get any crackers. She didn’t say a single word, just went to get a plate and placed it on our table.
