Brasserie Schwanen — Restaurant in Ennetbaden

Nice location, disaster food quality and service. More then 1h after ordering the starter arrived, starters were “okish”. First after finalizing the starter we were „informed“ that the moules ordered as main was not any more available but we could get the salmon tartare with caviar. After another extensive waiting time, during which we repeatedly times reminded that we where still waiting for the wine the main course was served- however still no wine. The two meat tartare were ok the salmon tartare was uneatable, the 5 caviar pieces was bathing in Balsamico on the side and the complete over salted salmon was mixed in Creme fraiche no herbs, lemon etc. After another long waiting time and reminders there were still no wine nor the chips that was part of the meat tartare dish, they arrived 20 min later and only due to repeatedly reminders. The staff confirmed that the salmon was really to salty and uneatable and we did not “need” to pay for it and the chips, but “ please come again”… which will not happen. Expensive. That’s the first word that comes to mind. Old-fashioned would be the second. The food is tasty—it’s more than evident that the ingredients are fresh and of very good quality, no doubt about it. That’s also reflected in the price. I found the sauces excellent—and that’s not something I say lightly. The meat was cooked perfectly, as were the asparagus. But if you’re looking for a chill, easy, and accessible meal in Baden, this is not the place. The interior has a grandiose air—Titanic-like, but more Rose’s vibe than Jack’s. Lovely to sit outside, and that's it basically. Food was mediocre. And the Egli filet were big. If you know about fish, Swiss Egli filet are always small and never big so I guess they are from Poland. For a restaurant of this price category I expect better quality and more Swiss products.
