If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic spot to enjoy incredible food by the lake, Restaurant de la Plage in Geneva is a must-visit. Located literally on the water, the setting is nothing short of stunning—whether you choose to sit on the spacious outdoor terrace or in the stylish indoor dining area, you’re treated to panoramic lake views that feel almost surreal.
The food is where this place truly shines. I started with their cucumber and feta cheese starter, served in a refreshing green, soup-like purée—it was light, flavorful, and absolutely perfect for a hot summer day. It’s a standout dish that I’d go back for alone. For the main course, I had the roasted chicken plate, and it was equally impressive—tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, although service can be a little on the slower side—something to keep in mind if you’re on a tight schedule. But honestly, with views like these and such good food, it’s not a bad place to slow down and take your time.
All in all, Restaurant de la Plage offers a truly memorable dining experience—great cuisine in an unbeatable lakeside location. Highly recommended for a leisurely lunch or...
Read moreWe waited 55 minutes for the food to arrive - whilst delicious as always, it wasn't particularly warm. No apology was given for the delay. The waiters inside seemed completely oblivious to who had arrived when, and not sensitive enough to at least provide bread during the wait - we eventually got our meal at 14h00, having booked for 13h00. Yes it was a busy lunch service, but during our wait, we saw several people who had opted for tables on the terrace arrive, eat and were on coffee whilst we still awaited our meal. Another table inside was still waiting to order after 40 minutes, and having been completely ignored they simply left - don't think the waiters even noticed ! We hesitated for the desert, but as they are homemade but premade, we thought it would sweeten the experience. Not so, the desert was forgotten as our order chit had apparently been chucked out and so it took another 35 minutes for the waiter to notice and rectify. To be fair, he did ofter us a coffee, but by that stage we had had enough. The food might be great, but such poor service really ruined what was supposed to be a...
Read moreOn a Monday night. The restaurant is allegedly fully booked, despite being 100% empty at 7:45pm (maybe a group will show up later, or maybe, as it would not be the first time in Geneva, not all the tables are set up due to limited staff). The buvette, which used to make some burgers and funny stuff, is now not doing so on weekdays, just four "tapas" - out of which only two are available. All of this two people manning the buvette with a such a miserable offer - which is a waste considering the minimum wage in Geneva. It is just so sad to see such a nice beach, which costed a fortune to taxpayers, with a restaurant farmed out to entrepreneurs who turn away a small family who would be happy to spend 100 francs for a couple of burgers and a bottle of wine (sold with...
