I'm a talent manager and me, a friend who knows the place and my talent all decided to go there yesterday as my friend ordered something he had to pickup and my talent wanted some japanese snacks to get before getting her plane home. What an horrible mistake, worst shopping experience I've ever had. We got there before my friend, and I could see an employee (manager?) already getting his order out and putting it in the back, so far so good. Now my friend finally arrives, we go around together, my talent was picking stuff she was willing to buy and I got a drink. Then we hear employees kind of yelling at each other, we don't pay too much attention but my talent was really uncomfortable already at this point. Anyway, we go back to the cash register. My friend go first and says he's here to get the order he did online, that employee or manager says to that other employee that just got there with us as she was on the other side of the shop for the entire time we were there, to go pick up his order behind them. That employee takes too much time to that manager's taste so she go there to absolutely yell at her because she couldn't find it, of course she couldn't because that manager didn't even tell them where it was. Mind numbing scene. My friend pays and decides to leave the place. At this point, my talent decide to drop everything she got and I do the same as I don't want to support such behavior and management. As we put everything back into place, another manager(?) enters the shop area and yell at pretty much every single employee being there and especially that poor employee from earlier. Then an old man goes "dégage dégage" at that poor employee that was still getting an order in the kitchen it seems, who talks like that to their workers ? We decide to get out of there as fast as possible, my talent is stunned.
So that night, my talent decides to go on stream and tell that story. I'm writing this to do the same so people know they shouldn't shop here. At least now, they're ~7000 viewers that know they absolutely should avoid Uchitomi if they ever...
Read moreGoogle categorised as "Delikatessen", but it is also a super market. The shop is big - possibly bigger than Shochiku in Düsseldorf and much bigger than Yumihana in Zurich. Variety of products can be found and it is very useful for Japanese living in Europe. Not only food, but ceramic wares, pottery, stationary and eat-in corner. As I am not living in Geneva, I also ordered online a couple of times. It worked very well each time - I even received it next day (it is not guaranteed, though). The parcel was very well and carefully packed, so that nothing breaks. Online shop has also variety of products, so it is useful. However, I felt the products have short expiry dates....just one example (means I had some more example), Kewpie Mayonnaise had expiry of 05.June.2025 (ordered on 16.Apr - just to compare, the same product, I bought in Yumihana Zurich a week earlier, had its expiry of November 2025. Therefore, I recommend not to order something to stock it at home. If you will use it in next couple of months, it is good place to order. Read moreVery bad experience today with Uchitomi after 4 years of loyal customs : 2.5 months ago we bought 2 10kg packs of Nishiki rice and got charged for Yume Nishiki... 58 CHF instead of 39 CHF per pack. I enquired the price difference at the time, but was told it was the correct price. Last week I bought 2 packs of Nishiki again at 39 CHF. Today, we go back to see if they can do something about that mistake. They start by saying "no" because the purchase is too old. As we insist they (the boss and a sales girl) disappear into the office. When they come back, they say I could not have bought the Nishiki as it was out of stock then (not sure how they could check by the way)... The sales girl even went on to say that since it was out of stock at the time, she remembered she advised me to buy Yume Nishiki ! Basically treating me of liar !!! For the sake of 38 CHF gain, they just lost regular and loval customers !!! DON't...
