I was looking for a late dinner to take back to my hotel when I stumbled upon this charming pizzeria in Geneva. The restaurant had lovely outdoor seating and a warm, inviting atmosphere inside. A kind waitress greeted me in French, and when I mentioned I was from America, she seamlessly switched to English to take my order.
I chose the Capricciosa pizza—tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, ham, eggs, and olives. Just reading the description made my mouth water. While waiting, I enjoyed a glass of red wine, easily the best I’ve had in a long time. The aroma of the pizza as it baked in the brick oven was irresistible, and when it arrived with its thin crust and lightly charred edges, I couldn’t wait to get back to my hotel to enjoy it.
At around 8 or 9 p.m., after a full day exploring Nyon and Montreux, this meal was the perfect way to end the night. The flavors were outstanding—authentic, satisfying, and far beyond what you’d expect from any chain pizza back home. Domino’s doesn’t even come close!
I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you’re a tourist visiting from the United States. It’s a true taste of Geneva hospitality and...
Read moreThis charming pizzeria delivers exactly what its name promises - authentic Neapolitan flavors in a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The wood-fired oven produces perfectly charred crusts with that signature leopard spotting, while the San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella di bufala create the classic margherita that would make any Neapolitan proud.
The ambiance strikes just the right note - rustic wooden tables, warm lighting, and the gentle sounds of the open kitchen create a space where you can truly unwind. Whether you’re catching up with friends over a leisurely dinner or enjoying a quiet meal alone, the atmosphere invites you to slow down and savor the experience.
What truly sets Il Fornello apart is the passionate team behind the counter. The service strikes that perfect balance of knowledgeable without being pretentious, friendly without being intrusive, allowing you to enjoy your meal at...
Read moreLiterally just came back from dinner at this place. My first night in Geneva and I thought this is a cute place I wanna try with my family. The blonde waitress was super rude when I only ordered one pizza for 3 of us because we weren't that hungry, SHE ROLLED HER FUDGING EYES AT ME! Did not appreciate that. If you want customers to order one pizza per person, let us know beforehand so we could leave and not waste your precious time and go somewhere we're appreciated. I wanted to order dessert because I really love tiramisu but I lost my appetite after her behaviour. The owner or maybe manager was there (I think) he seemed nice!! But that waitress was only nice to people who ordered a lot! And didn't even bother to ask us how the meal was or if we wanted something else. Threw the change at the table after we paid, not even a merci au revoir. Mind you, I spoke in French. So idk if that was racism just because we're brown or because we only ordered one dish. Never had this bad of an experience that I had to write a bloody...
