My wife and I enjoyed a weeklong stay at Maya Caprice Boutique Hotel & Spa from August 31 to September 7, 2026. ||||Location : To me, this hotel probably has the best location in town. We were looking for a hotel close to the train station as we did not want to do long walks or steep inclines/ declines at the end of each day when we would be tired after a day of hiking. The location of this hotel is perfect - right by the train station and also almost next doors to the main shopping street and Coop. The gondola station to Mannlichen is less than 5 minutes away. Although we were steps away from the train station, we never heard any noise and slept very peacefully . The trains are really very quiet. ||||Room : We had booked Junior Suite No. 45 on the first floor. The suite was very spacious and ultra comfortable, with a separate sitting area and a large bedroom with another set of sofa seating. There was so much room to spread, specially becz of the 2 huge wardrobes. The bathroom was huge and ultra modern with rain shower and all toilet amenities like body lotion, shampoo etc. ||I had heard that the beds in Switzerland are smaller and the mattress on the harder side. Definitely not in this hotel. The beds were queen size and the mattress and pillows were very soft .. just the way I like them. ||There was a coffee maker and kettle, tea bags, milk and sugar in the suite which were highly appreciated as I drink tea multiple times a day and love my early morning tea. ||||View : The suite had an attached balcony which offered stunning, postcard-worthy views of the snow clad peaks of Jungfrau and the most spectacular view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Staubbach Falls. I spent many, many hours out there , drinking in the truly breathtaking views .. it felt like we had stepped into a painting. ||Each morning I woke up early to see the sun rays touch the peaks and turn them a golden/ pink color ! And on some days I was there to see the sunset too .. the view was so special .. it will remain etched in my memory forever. All my photographs from the hotel balcony look like postcards. ||||Restaurant / food : We had opted for a half board plan ( ie breakfast and dinner ) as we did not want to walk around looking for a place to eat after a day of sightseeing/ hiking. However, we had asked for flexibility in the plan and had the choice to eat out for 3 days out of our 7 night stay. After our first dinner at the restaurant we were hooked. The food was so delicious, and the presentation so excellent that we felt we were in a Michelin star restaurant! Truly Chef Daniel has magic in his hands .. the 3 course meal we were served was unique and superb. Long story short, we never went out for dinner to any other restaurants in Wengen ! There was a lot of variety in the choices given each day and not even once was a dish repeated in the 7 nights we ate there. ||||The included breakfast each morning was delicious. There was a continental buffet and then there was a choice of eggs cooked to order. All the food was of the highest quality.||||And to top it off, the service was excellent and the views from the restaurant amazing. We always had a table with a view of the mountains and on a clear day enjoyed watching the sun set over the peaks.||||The restaurant staff were all first rate. Sanya, the manager was super helpful each day with our menu choices and she always welcomed us with a smile and had our table ready for us. Our servers Ida and Dimitri deserve a special mention as they were extremely friendly and remembered every detail of our preferences so we did not have to repeat them each day. ||||A big hug to Daniel.. Daniel you are truly gifted !||||Hotel staff : Daniel Schnabl is not only the hotel chef but also the hotel manager. He is the one with whom I interacted a number of times whilst making my booking and he answered all my questions very patiently .. multiple number of times. ||Neil, the front desk manager, helped us decide our daily activities based on the weather and our energy level. He was very accommodating and pleasant to visit with. He made reservations for us at Piz Gloria .. which is one of the highlights of our trip. He also helped me file a lost report on the SBB website, when I lost my backpack in a train. ( and yes thanks to the timely report and follow up call made by Daniel I found my backpack). He also loaned us walking sticks and umbrellas on the day it rained. ||||Spa : The spa is immaculately clean and the view from there is amazing too !! Whenever we went there in the evenings, it was always empty and we enjoyed sitting in the humongous hot tub and enjoyed the stunning view ! ||I could have sat there for hours if we didn’t have to go for dinner. ||||We couldn't have been any happier with our choice of hotel . We had such an absolutely fabulous stay that we truly didn't want to leave!||Our stay at this hotel was easily one of the most memorable parts of our trip.||I would highly recommend Maya Caprice for anyone visiting the Jungfrau region of...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to spend an entire week at the Maya Caprice Hotel in Wengen to celebrate our 40th anniversary in October last year.||Originally, we had planned to stay in Grindelwald, but the hotel we’d booked cancelled on us due to renovations, we couldn’t find anything else that we liked in Grindelwald, so we switched to Wengen, and the Maya Caprice, and it was the best thing that could have happened to us.||We stayed in a Junior Suite, number 18 from memory. The room was large and spotlessly clean, with the most spectacular view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Staubbach Falls. I spent many, many hours out there during that week.||The hotel was in probably the best location in the town. It was literally a one minute almost flat walk from the railway station, a minute or two from the Coop supermarket, an easy stroll up the main street and about five minutes from the gondola up to Mannlichen, and then onto Kleine Scheidegg or to Grindelwald. Absolutely perfect.||I struggled a fair bit with the altitude, in the sense that I was breathless when climbing steep hills. Luckily there were none with the Caprice. We dined one evening at the Baren and if I’d stayed there I don’t think I could have left often it was such a steep walk back.||We had breakfast included each morning which was delicious. There was a continental buffet and then various dishes cooked to order. All the food was of the highest quality.||The hotel had a bar, which we never used as we bought drinks at Coop and enjoyed them on our balcony.||On our second evening we dined in the restaurant to celebrate the actual day of our anniversary. It was by far the best food we ate in Wengen, if not in all of Switzerland. We immediately made another reservation for our last evening, and had yet another spectacular meal.||There was a spa in the hotel too, but we didn’t use it. We did spend some time in the hot tub with a glass of wine one evening, it is wonderful to enjoy the warmth of the hot tub surrounded by snow capped mountains.||I highly recommend a stay at the Maya Caprice Hotel if you are...
Read moreLocation: 8/10, close to the train station, small supermarket and shopping area||Hotel: 7/10, The room had a strange chemical smell. It wasn’t as modern looking as the photos. The spa area was ok, it was smaller than other hotels we’ve stayed at during our trip. Breakfast was good and offered a variety of cheeses, meats and cereal. We only tried the pizza at the restaurant and it was pretty good. The view from the balcony was stunning!||Staff: 0/10 Lorenzo at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful from the moment I checked in. I had 3 encounters with him and each time he was unapproachable and short. For example, we couldn’t find my toddlers iPad. The location was pinging that it was at the hotel so thought maybe she left it in the lobby. I asked Lorenzo if anyone turned in an iPad because it’s showing it’s at the hotel but we can’t find it. His response was “no, no one steals here”. I never implied it was stolen, just that it was pinging in the hotel and wondered if someone may have found it and left it at reception. His overall attitude was so off putting. It made me uncomfortable and I was dreading having to possibly deal with him during my stay. ||The staff at breakfast however were all very friendly and so helpful. I didn’t speak much with the guy at reception in the morning but he always smiled and said good morning when we came down for breakfast. They get an 8/10. ||Overall: 3/10. While the views were beautiful and some staff were nice, one bad apple can ruin the experience. My family and I spent a lot of money to visit Wengen and to be treated poorly even by one staff member, was really disappointing. I would never recommend this hotel to my...
