Bäckerei - Konditorei Vincenz AG — Restaurant in Lauterbrunnen

We were in Wengen for 4 days and came here almost daily. Pastries, sandwiches and coffee are delicious. They have a breakfast sandwich- egg and bacon - that is good. This was a good find, because we didn’t find any other viable option for breakfast in Wengen.

Some workers speak English, others don’t…whether an English-speaking customer can be understood is hit-and-miss. I learned some German before our trip to Switzerland, so was able to get by when I discovered during one visit that no one understood English. (I got out of the line and brushed up on a few words before getting back in line).

Pleasant atmosphere; though it can get crowded. There is no seating, two small, waist-high tables outside where you can stand and eat (there is a rock wall and a park across the street, where you can sit and eat)

The service is kind and (mostly) patient.

I'm only visiting, but if I had access to this shop back home, I would start off every day at it. We've tried many of their pastries over the last few days and everything has been great. My favorite so far was a seasonal rhubarb pastry that was unbelievably good. The giant apple strudel is amazing. Their almond croissant is another of our favorites. The quality of their baking is as good or better than anything I've eaten in France or Spain. The flavors range from subtle to strong depending on the item. You can taste the freshness and distinguish the individual flavors as they should taste, not masked by artificial flavors or overly-seasoned/sweetened. They also offer chocolates that are exclusively made in Wengen, local honey, and they even had locally produced apple juice. This is a business that clearly cares about quality and supporting...

Nice cakes, 2 rude members of staff (2 separate occasions, different people's experiences) - and I live in Berlin where customer service is pretty non existent so I'm used to it. Young girl was pulling faces when she thought I wasn't looking, and when ordering a 3rd cake - despite it being an empty shop - insisted on us hurrying up (no where near closing time or anything). I hope it was just down to her having a bad day, as everyone else seems to have reviewed highly! Only option for nice (enough) cakes though, so I suppose they have a...
