Skin's – the Restaurant — Restaurant in Lenzburg

We had the opportunity to visit Skin's in December last year. Being a 2 Michelin starred restaurant, one would expect the tastes to all courses are perfectly curated, layered and well-balanced. Sadly, this was not the case. The presentations and ingredients used for the dishes were top-notch, but unfortunately only the amuse-bouche and the desserts were palatable, as the rest of the courses were overpoweringly salty. Additionally, table service was substandard. The assistant manager came around to serve us water twice, but failed on each occasion to notice he left water droplets residue on the table and didn't return to clean them. To some patrons, this might be trivial. But shouldn't impeccable table service come with a 2 Michelin starred restaurant? Or that's only valid for 3 starred venues??? The acoustic of the restaurant was not very well thought-through either. This was made worse when the serivce personnels were simultaneously explaining the ingredients while continued serving the dishes to each guests on our table. As a result, each of us only managed to understand or catch part of the full explanations of the dishes. This review may contradict to many others, but would I personally recommend Skin's to other fine-diners and good food...

Our recent visit to Skins, the 2-Michelin-starred gem in Lenzburg, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff was exceptionally polite and attentive, ensuring that every detail of our experience was flawless.

The tasting menu was a journey of creativity and precision, with each dish telling a story of balance, technique, and bold flavors. One of the highlights of the evening was the apple, onion, and cheese dish, a surprising yet harmonious combination that stood out as the most memorable bite of the night.

A special mention goes to the non-alcoholic pairing, which was as thoughtfully crafted as any fine wine selection. Each drink complemented the dishes beautifully, offering depth and complexity without the need for alcohol. The restaurant also went above and beyond in accommodating my wife’s pregnancy, tailoring the experience to ensure her comfort and enjoyment.

Ein stilvolles Erlebnis mit kleinen Abstrichen

Atmosphäre & Umgebung: Von Beginn an überzeugt das Skins durch ein stilvolles, modernes Ambiente. Alles wirkt durchdacht, ruhig und elegant. Die Einrichtung ist edel, die Lichtstimmung angenehm und die Geräuschkulisse dezent, perfekt für einen entspannten Abend. Positiv fällt auch die unkomplizierte Anfahrt auf. Es gibt viele kostenlose Parkplätze praktisch direkt am Haus.

Service & Personal: Der Service ist makellos. Freundlich, aufmerksam und professionell, dabei absolut natürlich. Besonders hervorzuheben: Wir wurden ohne Wartezeit direkt von Herrn Kevin Romes abgeholt und an unseren Tisch begleitet, eine sehr persönliche Note, die den Abend angenehm eröffnete. Alles funktionierte wie ein eingespieltes Team, ohne gezwungen zu wirken, der Service war eindeutig das Highlight des Abends.

Essen & Erlebnis: Das 6-Gang-Menü wurde kunstvoll präsentiert, jeder Teller sah aus wie für ein Magazin-Shooting. Geschmacklich solide, jedoch fehlte das besondere Feuerwerk... Deal für Liebhaber ästhetischer Präsentation, weniger für jene, die ein geschmackliches Abenteuer suchen.

Preise & Wertigkeit: Vor unserem Besuch waren die Preise nirgends vermerkt, sodass man vorher keine genaue Vorstellung hatte. Die Preise sind gehoben, aber für die gebotene Präsentation und den ausgezeichneten Service teilweise nachvollziehbar.

Highlights & Kritikpunkte: Besonders positiv: der herausragende Service, die elegante Atmosphäre, die liebevolle Präsentation der Speisen sowie die unkomplizierte Parkplatzsituation. Negativ fiel die Toilette auf, ein Stilbruch im Vergleich zum Rest. Sie wirkt improvisiert, mit schwarz gestrichenen Wänden und ohne Handtücher, als gehöre sie gar nicht zum Restaurant.

Fazit & Empfehlung: Ein gelungener Abend mit perfektem Service, stilvoller Atmosphäre und optisch beeindruckendem Essen. Geschmacklich solide, aber ohne „Wow“-Effekt. Empfehlenswert für einen besonderen Abend, einmalig zu erleben, jedoch nicht unbedingt für eine...
