If you want best authentic north Indian food then this is the place to go in whole of Switzerland. We have been to Indian restaurants in Interlaken, Zurich, Luzern and Zermatt but no one could match this one. We live in London and there are plenty of Indian restaurants there but quality of Indian dishes on menu here are better than most. The restaurant is always packed in the evening and so 2 or 3 staff members sometimes struggle to serve guests so service could be slow at busy times but the food is so delicious that people are ready to wait. In Switzerland you will find that restaurants are typically short staffed may be due to very high basic pay and other benefits you need to provide to your staff and hence the high food cost too. We found many local Swiss people in the restaurant too and people continuously coming for takeaways. Food prices are slightly above average but every table gets free poppodums and If you order 2 main dishes then you get big bowl of rice complementary which more than compensates for slightly high prices. Punjabi Samosas and Aalo papadi chat are examples of best Indian street food that they serve. Tandoori Paneer Tikka as starter (comes with salad, chips and sauces) and Chana Masala, Veg Kadai, Tadaka Daal as mains are my recommended veg dishes. They have plenty of choice for non veg too. They also serve very good masala tea for those who fancy after dinner tea. Bus 2, 12 and 18 from Luzern bus station stop right opposite the restaurant and takes less than 10 min to reach there. This is a proper authentic Indian restaurant and I highly recommend this place for real...
Read moreEdit: Reducing one more star because of the arrogant reply from the owner. Worst kind of hospitality. Please mention the price of tap water in your menu which is not there now. Never coming back to this place .
The food is just average. When we entered the restaurant we wanted to sit on a table which was empty and the restaurant was almost vacant only 2 other tables occupied , but then he asked we can’t sit there as it is a 4 people table. So it was a start of the bad experience.
The dal was average and paneer was okay. Just fyi they don’t serve rice with dal.
Now when we started ordering, we asked for the tap water. The waitress who was courteous informed us the tap water was chargeable and costed 5 chf. Then she gave an offer if we order a drink it can be free. I thought this was kind of a blackmail to customers, why can’t you give a glass of water when your prices are so high, higher than other Indian restaurants in Lucerne. This pissed my mind so it was not an enjoyable dinner for me.
Although the ambience is quite good, but the other waiter named Sam was talking too much and for a fine dine restaurant it is not good. The other family who sat beside us was too loud. The waiter was doing his PR and was asking others to mention his name “Sam”. Not a good...
Read moreThis is an indian restaurant made for europeans, because apparently they don't know how indian food is served. We walked in, and the waiter told us we could sit anywhere. We ordered samosas, even showing the waiter a picture from a previous visit, yet they brought us samosa chaat instead. We had specifically asked for yogurt (raita) for the samosas, but it only arrived after we had already finished eating; and for that small serving of sauce, they charged a ridiculous 6 CHF. Instead of correcting the order, they charged us 14.50 CHF for “vegetable samosas” instead of 15.00 CHF for samosa chaat, even though the proper chaat includes three samosas, three sauces, and yogurt, whereas we received only two samosas with a spoonful of salad.
The waiter, named Sam, made the payment process unnecessarily uncomfortable by placing the terminal directly on the table and standing over us while we reviewed the bill, creating pressure to pay quickly. Once we paid, he snatched away the receipt copy almost immediately, which felt suspicious. The final bill for two people was an outrageous 93 CHF (nearly €100). Even in Luzern, these prices are excessive for the small portions, questionable service, and overall experience. There are far better places in the city for...
