DISAPPOINTING VISIT OVERALL

We went here because our daughter had her mind on Swiss fondue. We checked out the menu and reviews and booked online.

First thing that went wrong was the booking site. It seemed to accept the booking and showed the requested time which made us think it was available and made us confirm with a code sent via text. We arrived at our time but there was no booking. On checking I had received an email from the booking system saying the restaurant hadn't replied. Nevertheless the lady kindly said she would have a table in half an hour, so we returned later. I'm not sure why their booking site is so bad.

We asked if the fondue could be made without alcohol as our daughter is 16 and the taste of kirsch is very strong but she really wanted fondue. The waitress went to check with the kitchen. She returned to say that the kitchen said they could do the fondue without alcohol, so we ordered it. It arrived and was very clearly made with alcohol and tasted very strong. We should have sent it back as she didn't enjoy it but my husband's food had arrived too and we wanted to eat as a family.

My husband's meal was the schnitzel. He said it was dry and I did notice the portion size is significantly smaller than comparable meals we have had in other restaurants - he went to the kebab shop afterwards as he was still hungry.

Also, my daughter and I ordered coke zero whilst my husband had ordered a glass of tap water. It cost 6.50 CHF for tap water!!! The coke zero was only 5.50 CHF.

The entire bill was 109 CHF for three of us to have a one course and a drink. It was a very poor experience and I would not...

For all the tourists looking for local delicacy “cheese fondue” experience, my advice: choose wisely. A review by GT Hodge mentioned that fondue was served for 31.5 CHF for a couple and would have been sufficient for 3-4 people. We (two couples) went there to confirm this and the server lady said: “you could only share one portion with maximum of two people. If you want to share with 3-4 people, please order main course”. To this, we understood that we would pay 31.5 CHF for a portion that will be shared by two people, if we want to share with more people. then we should order something else. The other couple chose to eat somewhere else because they didn’t feel like eating in this restaurant or pay 31.5 CHF for a fondue leaving only two of us. Then with understanding that we would pay about 30 CHF, we ordered classic cheese fondue priced 30 CHF. Once we finished eating and proceeded with payment, the lady charged us with 60 CHF arguing that the fondue price was 30 CHF PER person. So we paid 60 CHF for a cheese fondue with a very unpleasant feeling as if we were being tricked. Of course one could argue that it was a miscommunication but for me it felt more like a trick. (The lady server spoke English, and I am fluent English speaker myself). I gave feedback the server she could have communicated clearly in the beginning but instead of listening, she was being defensive and insisted that she already informed inthe beginning.

One fact is clear, expect to pay 60 CHF for a cheese fondue pictured below.

One more fact: we were the only one eating at the restaurant on Thursday...

Honestly a bit shocked by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. This restaurant was extremely expensive (e.g. schnitzel costs 32 CHF) for below average food. We didn’t have a reservation but were told that we had 1.5 hrs to eat because they were fully booked for the night. We then saw countless other people turned away for the same reason though the entire time we sat there I saw tables open…We ordered the Swiss Tour to get a range of options but I can confidently say it is absolutely not worth the price. The fondue and the doggis bratwurst were fine but nothing to write home about. The cucumber salad was good. But the capuns had a really unpleasant dense texture that was also tasteless. The rösti was simultaneously chewy and dense. The condon bleu was stuffed with a ham that tasted kind of rancid to me and fried in overused oil which is a bit suspicious since we were the first people to order for the day. I also found our server to be a bit rude…we had spent all day on the go, exploring and on our feet. This restaurant was the first time all day we got to sit down and check our phones. I guess it was too long for the waiter though because he came over with a snarky comment which was...

Our dining experience at Restaurant Bündnerland Luzern was nothing short of exceptional. The cozy, Swiss-inspired ambiance immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. Our son (10) had the Schnitzel for his Birthday lunch, which was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender inside, paired beautifully with traditional sides. The Classic Cheese Fondue was the star of the afternoon, featuring a rich, creamy blend of cheeses with just the right hint of wine and garlic. Dipping the fresh bread and potatoes into the bubbling pot was pure indulgence. To complement the meal, we enjoyed the Dark Beer, which had a robust, malty flavor that paired wonderfully with the hearty dishes. Finally, for dessert, we treated ourselves to the Lindt Chocolate Fondue. The smooth, decadent chocolate served with fresh fruits and banana bread was a delightful finale, showcasing Switzerland's famous chocolate heritage. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our overall experience. If you're in Luzern and want to savor authentic Swiss flavors in a welcoming atmosphere, Restaurant Bündnerland is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
